Running for Mum: 57K Challenge
A year ago, my mum was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. This means that 10 years after her initial breast cancer diagnosis, the cancer came back, spreading through her lymphatic system to her spine, pelvis, and ribs. The doctors gave her a prognosis of one year to live, and possibly two years if she's lucky. That devastating news was delivered to us a year ago.
Instead of focusing solely on fighting the cancer or maintaining constant positivity, we've decided to embrace living with it, holding onto hope and optimism. Part of this optimism is believing in the possibility of new treatments or a cure for metastatic breast cancer.
This month, I am running 57 kilometers to raise money for my mum and the 57 women in Australia who are diagnosed with breast cancer every day. The funds raised will support crucial research into metastatic breast cancer treatments, aiming to improve quality of life and extend survival for those affected.
