For everyone who is or has fought breast cancer! You've got this!

I pledge to walk 58kms this August for my Mum 🩷

Back in March this year, my beautiful mum became one of the 58 Australians diagnosed with breast cancer every single day. After years of routine screening due to her BRCA2 gene mutation, our worst fears were confirmed. Sadly, this gene runs throughout our extended family, including myself. So this August, I’m pledging to walk 58km - one kilometre for every Australian diagnosed with breast cancer each day. Thanks to the incredible work already being done, the testing and monitoring available today helped Mum catch her diagnosis as early as possible. I can only imagine the impact that continued research will have in improving early detection, treatment options, and outcomes for women in the future. I’m walking to stand beside her, to honour her strength, and to raise funds for breast cancer research. Every step is for Mum, and for the thousands of others on this journey. 💕

This August I am walking 116km. 58km for myself and 58km for my mum. We have both benefited from the research and advancements in treatment options. Without these advancements our outcomes our prognosis’s may have been very different.

My heartfelt gratitude to the incredible surgeons, doctors, nurses, and support team members who stand with us every step of the breast cancer journey. Your unwavering dedication, compassion, and expertise give hope and strength to those facing this challenge. Without you, the possibility of recovery, remission, or becoming a survivor would not be possible. May your continued work be guided by ongoing research and innovation, inspiring brighter futures for all those affected.

For the most beautiful women who we all love forever

I am walking for me and my sister. I was diagnosed in 2021 and my sister was diagnosed 18 months later. We are now both cancer free and enjoying life and we want that for other women who find themselves in the same position we were.

I will be walking again this August for all breast cancer survivors and any who are going through the treatment.

I’m sure everyone out there know someone who has suffered from some form of cancer,I know a couple of people who have got breast cancer and are still fighting.if our money raised helps towards finding a cure, then they are closer to finding cures for all cancers.my mother died from lung cancer 20+ years ago,my niece 34 with a 4 year old son died 3 years ago from cancer so like i said, this is for breast cancer research but hopefully all cancer research will benefit.

Laura

My incredible mum is a two-time breast cancer survivor - and every kilometre I walk is for her.

Sue Buick

I've lost family and cared for two close friends during their last days. I've also been lucky enough to be diagnosed with RCC and 5 years on I'm completely clear due to advances made in this field. Let's raise some funds to rid more of this horrible disease.

Walking to raise money for this important cause. I was diagnosed last Dec with TNBC, this meant aggressive treatment. I’m lucky to report that it worked and I received a PCR post surgery. I would like to raise money for all those who need other options, especially with my type of BC.

Angie

I am one of the lucky ones. On Valentines Day 2020, I had a biopsy done after my biannual mammogram showed an abnormality. 4 days later I was given the news I had ER/PR positive breadt cancer in my left breast. I had no symptoms, so the news came as a shock. In that time, I found out my oldest sister had been diagnosed 2 weeks before me. It was just as COVID was getting more serious. I was lucky, because mine was caught so early, I had choices about my treatment. I was lucky because, I had the choice not to do chemo. I was lucky, because it had not got into my lymph nodes. I was lucky because my surgeon got it all. Yes, I was lucky. My message, is make sure you have check ups regularly. If you have concerns, get yourself checked.

Breast cancer is something that hits close to home for me as it’s affected my family and people I care deeply about.
