I'm right behind you, every step of the way! This August, I'm taking part in Step Up to Breast Cancer in honour of my beautiful friend Lara, who is currently facing this devastating disease. I'm also stepping up for my family and friends whose lives have been touched by cancer. Every step I take is for them and for the hope that one day no one will have to hear those life-changing words: "You have breast cancer."

Danielle Aloisi

I'm stepping up to help raise money for a cause that is very close to my heart. On 14 March 2025, I was diagnosed with an aggressive breast cancer. If you asked me how I made it through this past 15 months, I wouldn't even know where to begin. Nothing about these months has been easy. Some days it felt like the ground was disappearing beneath me, like everything caught my breath, there were days where I was strong, sad, angry, confused and always tired. There are days when I wonder whether the side effects out way the benefits of treatment altogether. Some of which are most likely permanent for me. But I'm here still fighting because something inside me refuses to give up! It has tested me harder than anything, but it has also showed I'm stronger than I thought. I've learned not to question the timing. I've learned to be patient through what I don't understand or can't change. Life is shorter than we ever admit, and none of it is guaranteed. So don't wait, do what makes you feel alive, spend time with the people who make you happy and laugh, says yes to the trip, the night out, and most important be present and make time for the people that matter to you. To my incredible family and friends, your unwavering support has provided me the strength I needed during my darkest days. I am truly blessed to have such fabulous people by my side. Life is like the ocean. Sometimes it is calm and steady, sometimes rough and unforgiving. But every rise and fall of the tide carries a lesson, and in the end, it is always beautiful!

miss you more and more everyday granny 💕

Bella

My mum was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was in her 20s. She was told she would never be able to have children and that broke her. She fought hard and endured humiliation from people who were supposed to be her friends and loved ones. And because she was strong. Because she didnt give up she survived and had both myself and my brother.

Thalia Buzes

Stepping Up in Memory of My Mum I'm taking part in the National Breast Cancer Foundation's Step Up to Breast Cancer Challenge for someone who will always be in my heart—my mum. Breast cancer didn't just affect her. It changed the lives of everyone who loved her. It brought fear, uncertainty, heartbreak, and challenges that our family faced every single day. We watched someone we loved fight with incredible strength and courage, and even after losing her, the impact of that loss has never truly left us. Now, I'm facing the possibility of walking a similar path myself. It has given me an even deeper understanding of how frightening and life-changing this disease can be—not only for the person diagnosed, but also for their family, friends, and everyone who stands beside them. I'm stepping up because I want to honour my mum's memory, support the families who are facing this battle today, and help create hope for those who may face it tomorrow. Every step I take is for the mothers, daughters, sisters, grandmothers, friends, and loved ones whose lives have been touched by breast cancer. Research saves lives. It brings us closer to earlier detection, better treatments, and, one day, a future where fewer families have to experience the pain that mine has. If you're able to support me, whether by donating, sharing my page, or simply offering words of encouragement, I would be deeply grateful. Together, we can make a difference. This challenge is more than just walking. It's about remembering my mum, finding strength in her memory, and stepping forward with hope—for myself, for my family, and for everyone affected by breast cancer.

This August I am Stepping Up for my family and friends that have been affected by Breast Cancer🩷

Sanshiya Rupasinghe

This August, I’m walking 56km as part of Step Up to Breast Cancer; for the mothers, sisters, daughters, friends, and loved ones whose lives have been changed by this disease. Like so many, I’ve seen how deeply breast cancer can touch a life. The fear, the uncertainty, the strength it demands, it stays with you. And while I may not have all the answers or the power to change everything, I can take this step. This walk is my way of showing up. Of turning care into action. Of contributing, even in a small way, to something that truly matters. I’m raising funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation to support vital research, because every breakthrough, every discovery, every bit of progress starts somewhere. For me, this is more than just 56km. It’s a step towards purpose. A step towards hope. A step towards a future where fewer lives are shaken by breast cancer.

Tara

Stepping up for my beautiful Family and Friends impacted by breast cancer! #doingitforthegirls!

Quentin

This August, I’m walking with purpose for my mum Linda Sutcliffe and for everyone affected by breast cancer. I’ve committed to walking 168 km and raising $1,500 to support vital research, treatment and care services. This journey is deeply personal to me and every step I take is in honour of my mum and the strength she’s shown us all through her recent battle with this dreadful disease. If you’re able to support me, whether by donating, sharing this fundraiser or helping spread awareness, it would truly mean so much. Your support helps bring hope to families going through this and moves us closer to a future without breast cancer. Thank you for standing with me.

Savannah Cole

Last year was one of the hardest years our family has ever faced. The strongest person we know, our mum, was diagnosed with breast cancer. Through countless hospital appointments, surgeries, treatments, and difficult days, she faced every challenge with incredible courage and determination. Watching her fight through it all showed us just how strong she truly is. Even when things were tough, she never gave up, and today we couldn’t be prouder of the amazing woman she is and everything she has overcome. To honour her journey and support others affected by breast cancer, my two brothers and I will be walking 56km throughout August. This walk is our way of celebrating Mum’s strength, resilience, and the love that carried our family through such a difficult time.

Shirley DaVanzo

I’m dedicating my 56km this August to one of my closest friends, who is courageously battling breast cancer. Throughout her journey, she has undergone treatment while pregnant, welcomed her beautiful baby into the world, and continued raising her toddler with incredible strength and love. Her resilience inspires me every day, and this challenge is for her and everyone affected by breast cancer.

Stepping Up because of the truly hard times so many women and families have faced. If they can go through all of that hardship, running 168km in August doesn’t seem that hard in comparison.

In Loving Memory of my Mum !!

Megan

This August, I'll be walking 56km in support of those affected by breast cancer. Many years ago, my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. She faced her battle with incredible strength and courage, and thankfully she overcame it. Watching her fight and survive showed me just how resilient she was and how important research, treatment and support can be for those facing this disease. Sadly, years later, Mum was diagnosed with stomach cancer. Despite another courageous fight, we lost her. While breast cancer wasn't the illness that ultimately took her from us, it was a journey that forever impacted our family and gave us a firsthand understanding of the challenges that so many people face when diagnosed with cancer. I'm walking 56km in her memory, to honour her strength, courage and determination. I'm also walking for everyone currently facing breast cancer, for the survivors, for the families supporting loved ones through treatment, and for those who have lost someone dear to them. Every step I take is for Mum and for the countless others whose lives have been touched by breast cancer. By raising funds and awareness, I hope to help support the research and services that give more people the chance to survive and spend more precious years with the people they love. Thank you for supporting me and helping make a difference. "Mum beat breast cancer, but cancer ultimately took her from us. This walk is for her, and for every family whose life has been changed by this disease." ❤️
