Stepping up for my Mum always, and all of those we have lost 🩷

In honour of my mum, my best friend, my biggest supporter and my biggest inspiration. An absolute warrior who never backed down from a fight, and this was no exception. Her motto was "if you don't laugh you'll cry, and laughter is the best medicine". I owe my sense of humour to her, I owe a lot to my mum. So, I am stepping up for her, one little thing I can do to give back to her after all she gave to me.

Su J

Nanny Sandra 21/5/1944 - 13/1/1996 "I won't be there to see her grow up" Was my Nans heartbreaking answer to "what's wrong?" whilst tears ran down her face after we had been giggling to each other. She was the first person I giggled with at almost 4 months old.. I don't remember her voice but these words play on repeat in my head everyday. You are my guardian angel! I know you're always watching over me, I wish we had more time together.. that we got the chance to have more photos and memories shared and that you got to watch me grow up from down here. I only hope you're proud of who I am or at least who I am trying to be 🩷 I love you Nan x

Did you know that in Australia you can have free Mammograms from 40? I didn't. I was going to wait until 50 (as advertised!) But we had a breast screen van in town and then I saw a facebook post that saved my life! Thank you so much Johanna! They need to change the advertising and lower the age. I have breast cancer. Stage 2 invasive ductal carcinoma. Tripple positive. I am currently going through chemotherapy and will try my best in this challenge because they said i should excecise. Please get your boobs checked everyone!! ( .)( .) And to the grim reaper: "leave my boobs alone!"

Bethany

A PRAYER FOR ALL
Dear heavenly Farther, please increase the wisdom, knowledge and understanding to medical doctors, nurses, researchers, technicians and healthcare personnel who conduct breast cancer research and studies and administer treatment to breast cancer patients. Fill those who are undergoing breast cancer treatment with Your strength, courageand patience. Strengthen their immune systems and protect their bodies as they undergo chemotherapy, radiation therapy, biological therapy, hormone therapy, surgery, cryosurgery and other procedures. Holy Spirit, comfort and strengthen their family members. Help them to cast all their cares upon You because You are the One who cares for us all. Remind their loved ones to have faith and to believe God for healing and a cure. With people, some things are impossible. But, with You, all things are possible I say this through Jesus Christ Amen.

This August is my SURVIVOR year TWENTY!!!! I was 36 years old with two daughters aged 11 and 7 when I was diagnosed with aggressive stage 3 Breast Cancer. I never thought I'd live long enough to see my daughters grow up, marry and have their own children... yet here I am...I've been at their weddings and have 5 gorgeous grandchildren around me too. I'm not counting years as such anymore (well, maybe a little), but I do count my blessings every day! Cliche, but true! I am so grateful every day to still be here and be supported by the many friends and family I have. I wrote a book about my journey and published it for my 15ty anniversary in the hopes of helping others. Sending love and hugs to those no longer with us, those currently battling and the survivors doing your best to survive. ❤️❤️❤️

Shane

Anton
Its crazy to see so many suffering from breast cancer and we haven't found a cure! I think science is doing some amazing research and all I can do is try my best to stay alive in hope a new cure is discovered. I love the experience of people power and community support when we come together to raise funds and give support.

Walking for the strongest most inspirational fighter I know!

Breast cancer is so much more than a diagnosis—it’s the fear, the treatments, the waiting, the strength it takes just to get through the day. It’s something no one should have to go through, and yet too many people do. That’s why I’m stepping up, fundraising, and doing what I can—because even the smallest effort can lead to something bigger. I’m walking for those who’ve fought, those who are still fighting, and those we carry in our hearts. I hope that one day we won’t have to walk for this at all. 💗

Jaime Binder
I’m doing this fundraiser mainly for my mum, who was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year. The past few months have been incredibly tough—filled with fear, uncertainty, and moments that have tested our strength in ways I never expected. Watching someone you love go through something so life-altering changes everything. But through it all, my mum has shown a kind of courage and resilience that inspires me every single day. This journey isn’t easy, but I’m doing this to honour her fight, her spirit, and the love we share. She means everything to me, and I want to be strong for her the way she’s always been strong for me.

Natalie M
I am grateful to be well and it's a privilege to walk in support of those fighting 🫶🎗️

This walk is for you, Nan. You are the reason I step up. You faced breast cancer with strength, grace, and courage that still takes my breath away. I watched you hold onto hope through every appointment, every test, and every moment of uncertainty, and somehow, even in the hardest days, you still had room to care for everyone else around you. You lived through it, with your humour, your softness, and your fierce love still intact. You reminded our family where our resilience comes from, not the loud, showy kind, but the quiet power of getting up each day and choosing to fight. I walk this journey with pride, knowing I come from a woman as strong and kind as you. This year, it means even more to me because my sister is stepping up too. Your story is now part of both of us, your strength passed down, your survival our motivation.

Harry

Your courage already blows me away, and I know you’ll handle whatever comes your way with the same strength and grace you’ve always shown. I’m so proud of you for taking the first step, and I’ll be here beside you through every single one that follows. To the fighters, the survivors, and the families who support them, we’ve got your back. And to everyone we’ve lost—your courage and spirit will never be forgotten.

I am running 58km in respected and honour of my beautiful Aunty Sue. I hope to make her proud. Walking is ‘easy’. I have known so many women throughout my life who have been diagnosed, treated, lived with and then 2 who lost the battle - my sister in law- Ratana /Ou and my sister in kind Carolyn. Never forgotten. They lived strong, full and proud in everything they did and were loved by many. In my thoughts everyday 🙏❤️

Sharon
I’m walking for my mum. She was an amazing strong independent woman. She loved her family with her whole heart. She first had breast cancer at 50yrs old. She fought it with bravery and strength. Then at 83 she was diagnosed with a TNBC (triple negative breast cancer) and passed away a week later. Even in her last days she was dignified and caring for those around her. She was an amazing mother a true inspiration. Her heart was full of love and compassion for her family and friends. She had a strong faith in God. She is now at peace.

I want to say im so happy people are getting in on this, to raise awarness and funds for such an important cause. Lets do this, im proud to be apart of this and you should be too! 🌸💕 Im doing this to honour those battling and who have fought the battle, you are amazing. 💕

Casey
For My Grandma When I was young, my grandma, one of the strongest and most beautiful people I’ve ever known was diagnosed with breast cancer. Watching her go through that battle was one of the hardest things I’ve ever experienced. She was my safe place, my joy, and my hero. I’m so grateful and lucky that she survived. Her strength, courage, and resilience continue to inspire me every day. I stand with the 58 Australians diagnosed every day, and I honour my grandma’s journey by supporting every step forward in this fight. Let’s step up to breast cancer together, for our loved ones, for our futures, and for hope.

Donna

Sandra
My mum beat breast cancer twice, both my grandmothers beat it and there are countless other women who are a part of my life or I've crossed paths with who are battling or have battled against this. The reality is, I could be next. I want to do my part to contribute into a better future for research and treatment so less women lose their lives to breast cancer.

Victoria Pilipasidis
My mum is a survivor - strong, brave, and full of fight. This message is for her, and for every person who’s walked this path. Cancer may leave scars, but it can never take away love, courage, or hope. I love you mum, and I’m so proud of you. Thank you for showing me what true strength looks like.

Bec Hansen
For everyone who is or has fought breast cancer! You've got this!

I pledge to walk 58kms this August for my Mum 🩷
Back in March this year, my beautiful mum became one of the 58 Australians diagnosed with breast cancer every single day. After years of routine screening due to her BRCA2 gene mutation, our worst fears were confirmed. Sadly, this gene runs throughout our extended family, including myself. So this August, I’m pledging to walk 58km - one kilometre for every Australian diagnosed with breast cancer each day. Thanks to the incredible work already being done, the testing and monitoring available today helped Mum catch her diagnosis as early as possible. I can only imagine the impact that continued research will have in improving early detection, treatment options, and outcomes for women in the future. I’m walking to stand beside her, to honour her strength, and to raise funds for breast cancer research. Every step is for Mum, and for the thousands of others on this journey. 💕

Jay-lee
This August I am walking 116km. 58km for myself and 58km for my mum. We have both benefited from the research and advancements in treatment options. Without these advancements our outcomes our prognosis’s may have been very different.

Sheri
For everyone who is or has fought breast cancer! You've got this!

Cary Rossetti
My heartfelt gratitude to the incredible surgeons, doctors, nurses, and support team members who stand with us every step of the breast cancer journey. Your unwavering dedication, compassion, and expertise give hope and strength to those facing this challenge. Without you, the possibility of recovery, remission, or becoming a survivor would not be possible. May your continued work be guided by ongoing research and innovation, inspiring brighter futures for all those affected.

For the most beautiful women who we all love forever

Cassandra

I will be walking again this August for all breast cancer survivors and any who are going through the treatment.

I’m sure everyone out there know someone who has suffered from some form of cancer,I know a couple of people who have got breast cancer and are still fighting.if our money raised helps towards finding a cure, then they are closer to finding cures for all cancers.my mother died from lung cancer 20+ years ago,my niece 34 with a 4 year old son died 3 years ago from cancer so like i said, this is for breast cancer research but hopefully all cancer research will benefit.

Laura
My incredible mum is a two-time breast cancer survivor - and every kilometre I walk is for her.

I've lost family and cared for two close friends during their last days. I've also been lucky enough to be diagnosed with RCC and 5 years on I'm completely clear due to advances made in this field. Let's raise some funds to rid more of this horrible disease.

Tracey Snell
Walking to raise money for this important cause. I was diagnosed last Dec with TNBC, this meant aggressive treatment. I’m lucky to report that it worked and I received a PCR post surgery. I would like to raise money for all those who need other options, especially with my type of BC.

Angie
I am one of the lucky ones. On Valentines Day 2020, I had a biopsy done after my biannual mammogram showed an abnormality. 4 days later I was given the news I had ER/PR positive breadt cancer in my left breast. I had no symptoms, so the news came as a shock. In that time, I found out my oldest sister had been diagnosed 2 weeks before me. It was just as COVID was getting more serious. I was lucky, because mine was caught so early, I had choices about my treatment. I was lucky because, I had the choice not to do chemo. I was lucky, because it had not got into my lymph nodes. I was lucky because my surgeon got it all. Yes, I was lucky. My message, is make sure you have check ups regularly. If you have concerns, get yourself checked.

Breast cancer is something that hits close to home for me as it’s affected my family and people I care deeply about.

Ainsley
