Support my challenge to step up to breast cancer!

Right now, 57 Australians are diagnosed with breast cancer every day.

This August, I am taking part in Step Up to Breast Cancer for the mothers, sisters, daughters, friends and loves ones who are impacted by this devastating disease.

I am doing this to raise funds for National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) to support vital breast cancer research to help save lives.

Please make a donation to support my challenge and let's step up to breast cancer together!

Thank you for your support.

My Updates

1 week and 1 day post surgery

Thursday 15th Aug
I’m finally able to lift my head long enough to gather my thoughts. After a 5day hospital stay I am home at my parents and recovering slowly.
All I remember was going to the surgery transit ward and stripping into my gown, talking to my parents and Payz and then being whisked away on the bed to the surgical rooms. So there were two rooms, it looked like an American subway. So I was in one room getting my cannulas put it, surgeon drew on me with texta, then I hopped back into bed and entered the surgical room. All surgeons said hello and then told me to scoot onto the table, before I knew it I was knocked out. I remember coming to and hearing the main surgeon say “no I don’t like it” and so I was drugged again lmao. When I came to I was sore and the surgical nurse gave me a dose of fentanyl. Anyway long story short… surgery went from 7am to 10:30pm and the biggest struggle for me was getting sleep and surviving the thick air everyone was chocking on and clocking up the sinuses.
Thankfully the garlic and ginger teas and a good sleep at my parents has helped and I feel better than I did yesterday. I’ve got issues with water retention and bloated stomach and pain but im better than what I was yesterday. I still can’t walk upright and have to sleep sitting up but am grateful to be alive. I just need to drink this nerve pain medication and go back to sleep. Thanks for readings! Write again soon ?

5 more hours til go time

Wednesday 7th Aug
I’m going in, in 5 hours time. I’m confident that everything will be fine… i’ll be trying to find you when I go under, Lina ?

Fridaaaaay!

Friday 2nd Aug
Still buzzing from all of these donations and well wishes, you guys are amazing!!
I said I was going to walk my butt off and I ended up in bed and resting in the car for most of the day ?? sometimes I forget that I’m sick and I plan a busy day… but then my body knocks me back on my butt and I’m like oh yeah… I have cancer…
Anyway, so because I've been out of breath a lot lately I had my lungs checked. I had to breathe into a tube that was hooked up to oxygen tanks and a computer, it was an experience.

Anyway thank you so much everyone!!
I've mapped out my walk for tomorrow which is 11kms and I’m going to walk it with my kiddies so jf should be great!

We have a date!

Wednesday 31st Jul
My surgery has been set for the 7th! So that means i’ve got 7 days to detox and get this body right to avoid infections etc. I’m typing this with garlicky breath as we speak. On Friday I see the respiratory care team to check my lungs… and then hopefully I get to sneak in some exercise before the big day. I just wanted to give a big shout out of thanks to the awesome ladies who have donated! Julie, Helen, Stephnie and Nina! You guys are one in a million and from the depths of my heart, I thank you all tremendously ? God bless ?

Change of plans

Tuesday 2nd Jul
On June 7th, I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. After a series of scans and biopsies, I am now undergoing hormone therapy and awaiting my surgery date to have a double mastectomy and reconstruction. During this time I am trying to exercise as much as I can between everyday chores and taking care of my kiddies. Some days though, like today…. I found myself with a swollen leg and extreme fatigue. So I thought hey… why not sign up for a challenge. Seeing as I was supposed to start a new exciting course next week, I might as well do something to help keep the mind occupied. I’m a little sad that I had to withdraw from the course but I am glad I get to stay home and be with the kids more ??anywho, thanks for reading, take care, stay blessed ?
