Support my challenge to step up to breast cancer!

Right now, 58 people in Australia are diagnosed with breast cancer every day.

This August, I am taking part in Step Up to Breast Cancer for the mothers, sisters, daughters, friends and loves ones who are impacted by this devastating disease.

I am doing this to raise funds for National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) to support vital breast cancer research to help save lives.

Please make a donation to support my challenge and let's step up to breast cancer together!

Thank you for your support.

Last walk- Palm beach Sunday 31st August

Monday 1st Sep
My last walk took me back to Palm beach. With Michael, we did a nice lazy loop stopping for a coffee, then lunch and drinks. It was a warm, sunny day with Spring weather. We fell short by 3km, so on the way back I was dropped off and walked the last leg to meet my km goal. Unfortunately on Monday morning, I accidentally clicked on a link increasing my km to 174km! This was a mistake as I’m not capable of walking anymore! I’m just glad I made the 116km ?

Long Reef Saturday 30th August

Sunday 31st Aug
Long Reef is my favourite place. I try and go there as often as possible, especially around sunset. It’s a great walk taking in stunning views and bird life. We have got to know a family of Peregrine Falcons that like to fish there and we see them on most visits. Long Reef is also a great place to spot migrating whales.

Great North Walk Thornleigh station to Hornsby station

Friday 29th Aug
Today, I went for a bush walk along part of the Great North Walk that’s starts in Sydney and finishes in Newcastle. I have done this walk once before but forgot how hilly and rocky the terrain was. It’s easy for me to get to, but a little scary as you don’t see many walkers and there is a ‘great’ possibility of coming across a snake. I spent the first half hour scared out of my wits but soon started to enjoy the experience. Deep breathing helped!! Luckily all I saw was birds and beautiful scenery. I walked for over 10k and saw only three other walkers!

Avalon to Narrabeen 24th August

Wednesday 27th Aug
On Sunday, I started at Avalon Beach again and walked to Narrabeen. I was feeling tired after treatment on Friday, but kept walking as I want to stay on track for the 116km. Again I was totally spoilt for views passing Bigola, Newport, Bungan, Mona Vale, Warriewood and Narrabeen beach.

Bondi Beach to Watson's Bay 26th August 2025

Wednesday 27th Aug
Today I travelled to Bondi Beach to start my walk. This involved catching two trains and a bus! It was a sunny, warm but windy day and, as always, there were plenty of people sunbaking on the beach. I made my way up the headland back towards the city, passing some very pretty views of the ocean and  harbour. There was also lots of inclines and steps to climb. . I arrived in Watson's Bay and decided to stop there, and have an ice cream on the beach in the sun, rather than walk onto Rose Bay.  I caught the ferry back to Circular Quay just after sunset.
I've nearly completed my entire Winter walk now from Palm Beach in the North to Bondi. I walked a few of the sections in June/July, but most of the walking has been this month.

North Head 20th August

Saturday 23rd Aug
11 years ago, I was walking to North Head when I had an experience that would change the course of my life. I therefore always enjoy going back to this spot. It's a great place to walk with beautiful bush and magical views. Even better if a whale happens to be passing by! It was a rainy day, but I managed to stay dry for most of the walk.

Blue Mountain- Grand Canyon walk 17th August 2025

Saturday 23rd Aug
I have done quite a few walks in the Blue Mountains, but this turned out to be one of my favourites! It involved a steep walk down lots of steps to get to the waterfalls and rainforest below. It was a cold day but the walking kept us warm. The climb back up was tough but it got the heart pumping! The views from the top were stunning and I flew my cape to get a few photos to show you all.

Milsons Point to Rose Bay 12th August 2025

Saturday 23rd Aug
My third big walk took me across the Harbour Bridge, past Circular Quay, the Opera House and Botanic Gardens. It was a good day for walking; dry and cool.  I went past some very expensive houses overlooking Sydney Harbour eventually ending at Rose Bay where I caught the ferry back to get a train home. A very pleasant day of walking.  I truly appreciate having the time and energy to do this!

Palm Beach to Newport beach Sunday 10th August

Tuesday 12th Aug
My second walk of the challenge was an enjoyable walk along the main headlands between Palm Beach and Newport beach on the Northern Beaches in Sydney. I had my raincoat ready, but managed to avoid any showers. I did catch a beautiful rainbow off the beach at Avalon. Magic really does happen there!
A highlight was the walk up to Bangalley headland, the highest point on the Northern Beaches.  The views are worth the climb!

Balmoral Beach to Milsons Point

Friday 8th Aug
Hi all,
I have kicked off my challenge a little late due to the start of August being a soggy one here in Sydney! I made the most of a free dry day to do a long walk from Balmoral Beach to Milsons Point. This is one of my favourite walks in Sydney, as it takes me mostly along the harbour foreshore through some beautiful bushland and stunning views of the harbour including the Opera House and Harbour Bridge.  You even get to hear some of the animals at Taronga Zoo!  I have posted a map of my walk.
I am aiming to walk most of the 116km along the coastline from Palm Beach in the far north of Sydney all the way to Bondi Beach in the south.
