Support my challenge to Step Up to Breast Cancer!

Right now, 56 people in Australia are diagnosed with breast cancer every day.

This August, I am taking part in Step Up to Breast Cancer for the mothers, sisters, daughters, friends and loves ones who are impacted by this devastating disease.

I am doing this to raise funds for National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) to support vital breast cancer research to help save lives.

Well I'm getting there it's been an emotional few weeks. My mum passed away on 21 July and it's been both hectic and emotional. My 84 yr old Mum had breast cancer and was having immunotherapy and AI treatment. She was not well enough to have surgery but pushed on with the treatment despite the side effects. In the end it wasn't the treatment that caused her death, her heart was just too weak to carry on. Through it all she smiled and chatted away to staff and she passed peacefully as she slept. I walk for Mum, myself and my sister who all have had breast cancer. The journey is not over but it will get easier with time.

Stepping out and stepping up

Saturday 1st Aug
Today is the day. Starting my Step Up to support Breast Cancer Research. Breast Cancer has changed my life after facing it in 2024 along with my sister and then my mother this year. Mum has now passed away sadly, not necessarily from the cancer. I'm thankful she was able to access treatment which shrunk her tumour. Let's help to make this world cancer free.

Just for the record

Thursday 9th Jul
Starting to get out and get walking several days per week. I want to share the importance of checking your breasts and being aware of your body. 56 people a day being diagnosed is too many. I support the research done by NBCF to find a cure. So much has been done and I know so many changes have been made over the years to make treatment tolerable and new treatments are being tested. I continue to pray for a world where the word Cancer doesn't automatically mean a death sentence.
