Support my challenge to Step Up to Breast Cancer!

Right now, 56 people in Australia are diagnosed with breast cancer every day.

This August, I am taking part in Step Up to Breast Cancer for the mothers, sisters, daughters, friends and loves ones who are impacted by this devastating disease.

I am doing this to raise funds for NationalΒ Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) to support vital breast cancer research to help save lives.

Please make a donation to support my challenge and let's step up to breast cancer together!

Thank you for your support.

My last run 🌳🌿🏞️🐦

Sunday 30th Aug
Wild Earth Coastal High 'Crunch' is a 28km trail run in the Springbrook National Park - Gold Coast Hinterland. I saw a promo for this event back in 2024. It looked spectacular! I thought 'If I trained for this, maybe I could do it?'. So I started running longer distances than the usual 5-7km. Gradually got up to 18km, my longest ever run! Then the sh!t hit the fan & got diagnosed. BC put a dampener on everything, including running. Fast forward 2 years, & getting the all clear, the Coastal High was ON! Apart from the ridiculously early alarm to get on the shuttle bus to get up to the start line in the NP, it was an extremely well organised event. The run itself was the most beautiful mixture of native bush trails, creek crossings, rapids, waterfalls, fire trails, farm roads & rainforest. With around 1,261m of elevation & 1,335m of decline. There was a section of 3kms of steps, upwards! At the 7km mark, my left hip started to feel off. I continued on but slowed as the pain got worse with every step. The highlight for me was the creek crossings (I lost count), the variety, the people (made a new trail BFF - Lisa), Purlingbrook Falls & just, the natural beauty. Aaahhh! I just loved it ALLLL. I would have definitely enjoyed it more if I wasn't in pain, but I was happy. And I crossed the finish line! It turns out the trail was 30km long, not 28km...so that burst a few of our bubbles as our watches clocked over 28kma, still a while away from the finish!

Coming off the half marathon last Saturday, the legs were a bit sore but back on track now. A mix of runs this past week. Some lakeside & beachside. Kawana Parkrun yesterday. But my fav was a beautiful, long trail run around Ewen Maddock Dam this morning 🌳 Some mean hills but they didn't kill me 😏

First run : Half Marathon β˜€οΈπŸŒŠ

Kicking off this challenge with one of my biggest running achievements. Sunny Coast Half Marathon was better than I could have imagined. LOVED EVERY MINUTE! 🀩 And doing 21kms under 2hrs was the cherry on top πŸ’
