Hi. My name is Mackenzie and I am campaigning to raise $2000 dollars for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
For those of you that know me, you’ll know that this isn’t my first time raising money and donating my hair. For those of you that don’t know me, I’d like to introduce myself. My first name is Mackenzie, a name that I love. I also identify just as much with my middle name, which is June. I was named after my grandmother, June Marshall, who battled breast cancer and unfortunately passed away before I was born. I wish I could’ve met her. I know she was a brave and loving person. She served as a nurse and she gave me my mother; two incredibly kind acts. I am proud to carry her name and her legacy, which makes my fundraising for the NBCF something incredibly close to my heart.
In Australia alone, more than 3300 people will die from breast cancer this year and 56 people are diagnosed with breast cancer every day. This makes funding research vital to support the brave people across Australia that will go through this. The NBCF has one clear vision: zero deaths from breast cancer - and since 1994, largely due to research, the breast cancer death rate in Australia has reduced by over 40%. I want to do what I can to help, which is why I need your help.
This will be my third time donating my hair, which I did back in both 2017 and 2021. All money raised will be donated to the NBCF and the hair that I cut off on the 8th of July will be donated to Hair with Heart, to be turned into a wig. I grew up getting compliments from my hair and if I can share that with someone in their time of need, I will.
If any of you can donate, I ask that you do. Every amount counts and will go towards funding research into the prevention, detection, treatment, and stopping the progression and recurrence of breast cancer.
