I've decided to host an event and raise funds for world-class breast cancer research to help National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) towards their vision of Zero Deaths from breast cancer.

Pink Day 25/6/25

Today I turn 43, I didn't think I would be fighting breast cancer on my birthday yet here we are. 

I am fighting an infection in my left breast (ironically the side that was cancer free) and radiation has been put on hold while I wait for genetic testing results. I'm feeling hopeful, optimistic and grateful. Thanks to everyone who has made a donation and supported this cause, it's thanks to research I'm doing ok. Xo

Thanks to everyone who has kindly made a donation to this fundraiser. 

My journey continues although I received the best news possible yesterday! I  had my first appointment post surgery with my surgeons. My lymph nodes are clear and I don't need chemotherapy.  This is a huge relief, I cried tears of joy. 

This is the best possible outcome and I know everyone isn't so luck and my heart goes out to everyone who is on a journey, everyone's journeys are very different. 

I still have a long journey ahead, endocrine therapy and radiation, lots of appointments and ongoing check ups and scans for at least 5 years. I am feeling positive and optimistic. It was a long day at the hospital as I was admitted as an in home hospital patient. I was sent home with a prevena and the nurses will come daily to my house.

I do feel like life is at a bit of a stand still at the moment as I continue to recover, limitations on my physical abilities, unable to attend social events etc but the world around me continues to move. I remind myself, this is a moment in time so I will embrace the slow pace, use the time to read lots, meditate and binge watch Netflix.  Having no control and being forced to "slow down" is hard but keeping faith and belief that everything will be ok is important.

Not healing as well as I should be post surgery, hopefully this speeds up the process.

Update 29th May

Thursday 29th May
Last night I was discharged from hospital. Surgery went well, the surgical team believe they got all of the cancer and took extra margins in the hope of preventing future surgeries. The medical team were all great, the nurses are amazing! 

Now I rest and heal and wait for next week's appointment to determine treatment plan, I also have an appointment with a naturpath. Feeling a sense of relief that the cancer is out and also that I woke up (I was terrified about surgery).

Slight speed bump

Tuesday 20th May
So I was mentally prepared and ready for tomorrow and just received the call from my surgeon, my surgery is delayed until next Tuesday.  

A bit of a head f$@k but I always say everything happens for a reason. 

Countdown is on

Monday 19th May
Two more sleeps until I head into surgery. In simple language, I will be getting the cancer removed (right breast), lymph nodes removal and a double reduction. I am somewhat terrified of what's to come although I am excited to get it out, so  many mixed emotions 

Thanks everyone for your words of encouragement and supporting this cause. Without research, years ago my diagnosis would of been an automatic death sentence but I am so grateful medicine and treatment has significantly progressed meaning better outcomes for who are impacted by BC.

I am hopeful, optimistic and determined to beat this and to turn a really shitty situation into a positive. My glass is still half full, just a massive crack in it right now!

My Journey

Saturday 17th May
On 10th April 2025, my world was turned upside down when I heard the words it's cancer. My diagnosis of invasive mucinous carcinoma (one of the less common types of breast cancer, only about 6% people have this type) has changed my outlook on life. Although my journey has just begun, surgery on 21st May followed by treatment, which I am told will be a marathon I am determined to fight and beat this. I am also grateful for organisations like the NBCF and research which has improved treatments and outcomes for many people affected by this horrible disease.  I have made pledges in the past to go pink and fundraise for friends who have been impacted this year I've joined them as a pink warrior.

Depending on what is to come after surgery my event may virtual only but regardless it will be pink!
