Support my challenge to step up to breast cancer!

Right now, 58 people in Australia are diagnosed with breast cancer every day.

This August, I am taking part in Step Up to Breast Cancer for the mothers, sisters, daughters, friends and loves ones who are impacted by this devastating disease.

In 2022, my beautiful mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. The only reason she got her scans was because my nan was diagnosed with bowel cancer a few weeks earlier. 

My mum had surgery a week before my 16th birthday and what was only supposed to be one lump turned out to be THREE. If her diagnosis was left any longer, the cancer would have reached her lymph nodes and been a lot harder to reduce.

One year of chemotherapy saw my family fight some tough battles. There were moments for tears and moments for joy throughout this time, all of which were worth it in the end when it was finally announced that my mum was in remission. There were no more cancerous cells present in her body. 

I believe everything happens for a reason and although sometimes it may not feel like it, it does. Although my nan lost her battle, I could have lost my mum too and that is the blessing that was disguised as grief. 

In the month of August, I am running for the 58 people a day who receive the same devastating news my family did.
