Right now, 56 people in Australia are diagnosed with breast cancer every day. This August, I am taking part in Step Up to Breast Cancer for the mothers, sisters, daughters, friends and loves ones who are impacted by this devastating disease. I am doing this to raise funds for National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) to support vital breast cancer research to help save lives. A Trip to Devonport for a very important event...Sharyn's Hen's Bus Tour....what a great time we all had preparing sissy for her wedding day!!Slowed me down a little today in the km's.....no early morning walk for me this morning 😵‍💫 So once I bounced back a bit I did a few kms about the Devonport foreshore this afternoon. My Km's now stand at 93km. Tonight I'm posting some drone footage and pics from Friday morning we took from Brandum Bay and the walk I did at Hullage Hill. The coldest walk yet I might add!! Tomorrow is the last Day of August, the last day of MyStepUpToCancer journey. My biggest supporter, drone technician, and bestie....my hubby will hopefully be well enough to walk my last few kms with me....watch this space 🩷

Well the sky was the main attraction this morning with the lake playing the understudy, together what a show they put on.🩷🩷 This morning I would like to acknowledge once again the patrons of the Central Highlands Lodge Who combined together last night in raffle ticket sales raised $434 towards MyStepUpToCancer. Special shout out to Dale and Andrew for buying lots and lots of tickets, and of course Helen and Michael for supporting me once again. Also to Maree Aitken and Robin Dunstan for your extra kind donations Our total funds raised to date now stands at $4215 And I just cannot thank you ALL enough for supporting this cause. 🩷

Although there was a frost again this morning it has brought with it a gorgeous day, I'm so lucky to experience living here. I'm loving the walking even on the days that I just don't feel like it. With only 5 days left in the month I am starting to wonder what my final km will be.🩷

What a shock to the system this morning after yesterday's balmy stroll, but with the chill in the breeze at least I move quicker🤣 Sad news this morning of Dolly Partons passing.🩷💔😪 so today would be a good day to check your breasts, book that mammogram, or have a conversation with a friend about breast cancer. Dolly loved her breasts, we should love ours too, So do it for Dolly.🩷💔🩷 Big thankyou to Theresa Atkins for your kind Donation towards MyStepUpToCancer campaign. Our total funds raised now stands at $3609 and my km's walked at 75km.

After a morning chat with mum and dad. Another 2km around Ulverstone today brings my kms up to 70km. Shout out to three of my life long supporters for sharing their time, conversations and laughter with me yet again last night. Just small 1km today, least it wasn't snowing. With 3km done today my clocked up total of kms now stands at 62km. My fundraiser for this week is still continuing with only 17 tickets now left for the chance to win a nights accommodation at the Central Highlands Lodge, $10per ticket, so inbox me if you would like one. My post today is once again about the reason I am walking. 🩷🩷MyStepUpToCancer🩷🩷 campaign is just only one of the many campaigns that is organised and run by the National Breast Cancer Foundation. I chose to do this campaign because I felt so helpless watching someone I loved dearly go though the process of her Cancer journey. I never dreamed I could reach my goal of $750 and thought my 56km would take me the whole of August to complete. I'm still feeling overwhelmed by all the love and support I have received, and very thankful that together we have raised over $3000 for breast cancer research.....and it's NOT over yet. Thankyou all, once again for cheering me on.

Whoo hooo 🎉🎉 i've reached my walking goal of 56km🎉🎉 Today's post is dedicated to Sam Mac and to all those people out there that have been through this breast cancer journey, personally or by supporting a loved one. 🩷 56 km is nothing compared to the fact that 56 people a day are diagnosed with breast cancer. Thankyou everyone for all your support and encouragement it's been so wonderful to have you all cheering me on. Although the goal has been reached I will still be walking and raising funds for the MyStepUpToCancer campaign until the end of the month. The walk today... Funny enough it was my hardest walk so far, it was gloomy and kinda lonely feeling. The drizzle was heavy and cold. The lake was dark and moody apart from one small patch of a happiness cloud trying to break through, like hope. Not a bird or animal in sight, except bloody white dog!

Words just don't seem enough to tell you all how grateful I am for your support, your messages, your encouragement, and mostly your financial backing with your donations. I know what a sacrifice you have all made with the current cost of living and I truly appreciate every cent that has been donated towards MyStepUpToCancer journey. On that note I would like to thank Cameron Baird today from the bottom of my heart for his very generous donation via my fb fundraiser. Which saw the total raised funds to date stand at $3053. To quote Cam 🩷" if it helps one woman have an easier journey then it's worth it " 🩷 You are a legend buddy ! 😭😘 Oh and my km today stand at...🥁🥁🥁 52km, almost at my goal.

Monday 17th Aug
A small 1km added today, we've been out filming with the drone again. Lots of stopping and starting. Will post the outcome tomorrow. Today's post is a Fundraising post. I have a nights accommodation up for grabs worth $165 at the fabulously famous....... Central Highlands Lodge Very generously donated by the legendary Helen and Michael. I thank them from the bottom of my heart for not just this generous donation but for all the support they have given me thoughtout my StepUpToBreastCancer fundraising campaign. For those of you that don't know the central highlands lodge is my workplace, located right here in Miena it has the most spectacular view of the great lake, not to mention the fantastic, good old traditional pub meals that it is well known for. Gorgeous, comfortable accommodation, and of course friendly bar staff😉 For just $10 towards a great cause you could be in with a chance to come spend the night with us.🙂 Goodluck everyone I look forward to seeing the winner share some of this paradise 🩷

Very foggy and kinda spooky this morning. It felt a bit like a scene from Alfred Hitchcock's movie "the birds" with a cacophony of currawongs following me along the road at one point, Lynda Lammin Vince Lammin i know you will understand this. Eyes gawking out from everywhere. There was no view of the lake this morning, but you can tell once the fog lifts it is going to be a cracker of a day here in paradise. Well, Miena has put on a show again this morning....what a pleasant walk this morning, although frosty, not a breath of wind and the lake was stunning. I even stumbled across 2 stags, not sure who was more startled them or me!! 🩷🩷44km in now, 12 to go to reach my goal🩷🩷 Special mention to the young talent time lovers out there today, although not breast cancer, cancer took another piece of our childhood yesterday, RIP Johnny Young 😢

Friday 14th Aug
Only 1km today, a trip to Hobart limited time in the daily routine, but I managed to get 1km on the clock by walking along Augusta Rd while Danny was with the physio 👏👏👏 So I have posted some beautiful pics of this morning's sunrise we witnessed on our drive down. Fingers crossed the sunset will be just a gorgeous on the drive home 🤣

A small walk in the drizzling rain today just to the "trunk with the trunk" and back again. 2km more on the clock with 16km now to go to reach my goal. Huge thanks today to Teresa Hall and Jane Lester for their kind donations which has brought today's Fundraising total to $2433.🩷👏👏🩷 Monday I told you why I am walking, so today I thought I would tell you about where I walk. Most days, unless I am away from home I walk what is know as the Berry Bank Loop. It's 2.9 km in length so at the end of my walk I do 2 laps of the house to bring me up to 3.1km. It takes me anywhere from 35min to 50min depending on how energetic I'm feeling 🤣 Over the 6years I have lived here I have done this walk many times, some of you have walked beside me and will know the area. There are many wallabies, parrots, carrawongs, kookaburras, blue tounges and sometimes a wombat or deer or 2. Everyday is different, yet beautiful. The walk itself takes me along side the great lake for roughly 1km, it has many moods, but is always gorgeous. 1km in I past what I call the trunk with the trunk, tree stump. At 2km I can look over and see my workplace - the Central Highlands Lodge , being morning it's usually looking peaceful.....the calm before the busy. The loop gives me 3 sharp inclines 😩😵‍💫😬 1 of which I always need a stop half way up. Half way round I challenge myself everyday to get past the resting white dog before he hears me and barks the neighbourhood down, so far I've failed.😆🤣 The road is dirt, sometimes wet, sometimes dusty, lately mostly icy. Over time I have walked it in many conditions, once even in the snow which took 3 times a long, - lynda Vince Lammin - The walk itself is peaceful, calm and oddly relaxing, most days there is an icy breeze which I start walking into and finish walking into, with a period in-between where it's behind me. Before my StepUpToBreastCancer campaign it had been sometime since I had done this walk, but I've enjoyed again and believe that once August is over I will continue to walk the loop. Oh my goodness, thanks for all the love yesterday everyone, it's very much appreciated. 😭 BUT It's not about me, it's about the 56 Australians that are diginosed with Breast Cancer everyday. It's about anyone that has been touched by Cancer. It's about raising awareness and funds to help Breast Cancer Research. Second week in now and I would like to thank everyone who is following this journey, but especially those who have donated. This week I have decided to focus my posts on why, where and how I walk. Opening up on social media is not a normal thing for me, but I have found this experience of a close friend being diagnosed with breast cancer confronting and overwhelming, leaving me with a huge feeling of helplessness. So far I have touched on the why, 56 people a day are diginosed with breast cancer in Australia, and this year my gorgeous Sam Mac was one of them. We have been friends for 30 years. That's alot of tears, laughter and secrets together. She has held me while I have cried at my lowest, laughed with me (And at me) in my highest, listened endlessly to my venting, supported me in my challenging times and encouraged me in all my big decisions and crazy adventures. I cannot imagine life without her. I'd heard of other people having breast cancer, I'd donated before, I'd been for breast screening and even been recalled a few times myself, but also I'd had a 'lucky escape'. Now it has become personal, now it's real and confronting, so I decided rather than be helpless I would do more than just donate. I decided that for 1 month I could bring awareness to this disease and raise some funds for research along the way. Not much really in comparison to 30 years of support.🩷 So that's the why. Thanks for reading, thanks for following, thanks for supporting me and big special thanks again to everyone that has donated.🩷🩷

Today's post is a Gratitude post to the patrons at the Central Highlands Lodge who together last night raised $300 towards my     StepUpToBreastCancer Fundraiser. What an amazing effort by some absolutely awesome people. I'm so lucky to have such fantastic people supporting me in this cause. Special thanks to Danny Cole, Laura Dehaan and little Rose for organising the raffle.Winners ....  Gerard Allford and Paul Cooke Thanks for the extra Donations John Costelloe and Gerard Allford.So with their Generous donation the grand total now stands $2010. Cracking the $2000 point is more than I could have ever imagined and I'm so grateful for everyone that has donated so far.This morning's walk saw me achieve my half mark, now 28km into my goal of 56km.👏🩷

Day seven

Friday 7th Aug
This morning's walk was foggy and icy, but brought the clocked kms up to 25km. So today's post is focused on a walk I did yesterday at the Miena Dam. With the help of hubby and his drone to capture some views of The Great Lake and Shannon Lagoon. See if you can spot the pink dot.🩷 Miena Dam has three dam walls although two are often submerged. The Tasmanian Hydro Electric Power and Metallurgical Co. built a small dam at the outlet from the Great Lake in 1911. Construction of canals and pipelines conveyed the water to Waddamana where it was intended to generate power for the treatment of complex ores. In 1914 the Government acquired the company, and by May 1916 two turbo-alternators had been installed at Waddamana Power Station. In 1919-1922 a multi-arch dam was constructed at Miena to increase the Great Lake storage and the power station was expanded to supply more power. In 1967 a sloping core rock-fill dam was built downstream; this was raised again in 1982. Well, I cannot thank all my supporters and sponsors enough, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou from the bottom of my heart 🩷With more generous donations yesterday from Michael Reaney, Mandy,  Michael Cousins, Sally Gerhardt, Jill Anderson and a wonderful donor that will ramain Anonymous together we hit a total funds raised of $1277.This morning I received an email to say the all donations made today up to $180 will be match by major sponsors.Thanks Kathryn Summers for you donation this morning it has been matched and our grand total now stands at $1397. AMAZINGLY OVERWHELMING!!🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷                   21 kms       $1397 funds raised 🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷so to show you all my appreciation I walked extra kms today and my clock now sit at 21km. I'm almost half way. 🚶‍♀️

Wednesday 5th Aug
Today's walk has been completed. I've now clocked up 16km into my 56km goal. The big news of the day is that together we have smashed the Fundraising goal of $750...with donations yesterday from Carol Frisby Melissa Kitto Maria Ohalloran and Denize Evans added to our previous donations we now have a total of $928. I would like to thank everyone again for all the support, with your donations and encouragement. No photos today of my walk sorry, just breast cancer awareness spam. "Those people that love and inspire you, accept you for who you are, encourage you daily, are always there for you. Today's walk was the coldest so far. Walking into a breeze, I must say it was good to get to the finish. The lake was even cold and broody looking this morning but still beautiful.
