I'VE PLEDGED TO STEP UP FOR My Nanny Sandra

Nanny Sandra 21/5/1944 - 13/1/1996 "I won't be there to see her grow up" Was my Nans heartbreaking answer to "what's wrong?" whilst tears ran down her face after we had been giggling to each other. She was the first person I giggled with at almost 4 months old.. I don't remember her voice but these words play on repeat in my head everyday. My Nan is my guardian angel. She has proved this many times, she is watching over all of us and keeping us safe.. I feel her presence, I feel her support and there is no doubt that when I do stupid things she's either shaking her head or laughing her arse off! My Nan was an amazing person! She was at her happiest when everyone was around her and when they were happy. She did everything in her power for other people. My mum has so many traits of her personality and character.. She said it how it was, so does my Mum and most of the time, so do I. Nan had a mammogram when she was 46, they told her it was clear. In February 1995 when she was only 50 she went to her doctor because she was still in pain, and it was not a pinched nerve as they had all previously tried to tell her. She then went to a Breast Cancer Specialist, who (from what we have only found out earlier this year), was absolutely furious as he looked at her mammogram images from 4 years earlier, that CLEARLY showed that she had cancer. She started radiation therapy and had a mastectomy immediately. I was Mums first baby, born in September 1995. Nan passed away in January 1996. The health system then compared to now has drastically changed, but it's still not enough. There are still so many questions unanswered. Maybe one day there will be 'cure', maybe one day there will be no more deaths. There are so many amazing people out there working so hard every single day to get to zero deaths. One day there will be an answer... there has to be! I know you're always watching over me, I wish we had more time together.. that we got the chance to have more photos and memories shared and that you got to watch me grow up from down here. I only hope you're proud of who I am or at least who I am trying to be 🩷 I love you Nan x

Support my challenge to step up to breast cancer!

Right now, 58 people in Australia are diagnosed with breast cancer every day.

This August, I am taking part in Step Up to Breast Cancer for the mothers, sisters, daughters, friends and loves ones who are impacted by this devastating disease.

I am doing this to raise funds for National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) to support vital breast cancer research to help save lives.

Please make a donation to support my challenge and let's step up to breast cancer together!

Thank you for your support.
