Support my challenge to step up to breast cancer!

While some people know this, many don’t. In December I became one of the 58 women diagnosed with breast cancer every day in Australia. As a more alarming statistic, 1 in 7 women will be diagnosed with this disease in their lifetime. 


In January I underwent surgery and in February I commenced an aggressive regime of chemotherapy, targeted therapy and endocrine therapy. Chemotherapy is the hardest thing I’ve ever done. By June I had finished chemotherapy and spent the best part of a month undergoing radiation therapy. To say this year has been a roller coaster is an understatement - emotionally, mentally and physically. I have gotten through it one day at a time, and with the love and support of my family and friends (and Sheldon - obviously). While I’m still doing targeted and endocrine therapy, with chemo and radiation behind me I’m focused on a path of recovery ahead. 

As such, in August I’ve committed to running 58km to support the National breast cancer foundation, with 58km representing the 58 Australians diagnosed every day. For those who know me well, know I’ve long been a runner. However, I haven’t run for the best part of 8 months now. I did my first run last week - it was short and it was slow, but I did it. So 58km in a month is going to be quite the challenge for me. But if it helps to raise awareness of this disease, encourage regular mammograms, and raise money for future research then I’m all in.

I know too many diagnosed with this awful disease, some of which have lost their lives much too early. Help me in raising funds to develop new treatments and help save lives of those we love.
