Why am I fundraising?

Breast cancer is something I never thought would become so personal to me. Until my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer, I knew the statistics, but I never truly understood the fear, uncertainty and heartbreak that comes with hearing the words “you have cancer.”

Watching someone you love go through cancer changes the way you see those statistics. Behind every diagnosis is a person, a family and a story. For my family, that person is my mum.

My mum is one of the strongest people I know, and watching her face this has been incredibly difficult. There are moments of fear and uncertainty, but there is also so much strength, hope and determination. Her journey is the reason I have decided to take on this challenge and raise money for breast cancer research.

I am fundraising for the National Breast Cancer Foundation because I want to help contribute to a future where no family has to experience the heartbreak of losing someone they love to breast cancer.

Every donation, no matter how big or small, brings us one step closer to better detection, better treatments and ultimately Zero Deaths from breast cancer.

I’m doing this for my mum, for every person currently fighting breast cancer, for the families standing beside them, and for the families who have lost someone they love.
