We're fundraising for people diagnosed with breast cancer.

Did you know that every day 56 people in Australia are diagnosed with breast cancer and 9 people in Australia die every day from this disease? Diane Micallef in Employability Programs is one of them.

In December 2018, Di was diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer, an aggressive and rare form of the disease. When tests revealed that the cancer had spread to her lungs, she was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer and given a prognosis of just 18 to 24 months to live. Despite the incurable nature of stage 4 breast cancer, Di has continued to face her journey with courage and resilience.

Nearly 8 years on from her initial diagnosis, Di continues her treatment and has included chemotherapy, radiation therapy and mastectomies (7 years apart- including one this year) and she continues to receive hormone-blocking medication and targeted therapies to manage her cancer. The current treatment extending Di's life was only introduced a year or so prior to her diagnosis and was a result of groundbreaking medical research.

We've decided to raise funds for world class breast cancer research to help National Breast Cancer Foundation towards their vision of Zero Deaths from breast cancer because without this research, we believe Di (and thousands of others) wouldn’t be with us.
