My Squat Challenge for breast cancer research

56 Australians will be diagnosed with breast cancer today and a further 9 will die. I want to make a difference to the lives of those 56 Australians impacted by the disease - that is why I am taking on the Squat Challenge to raise vital funds for world-class breast cancer research. But I need your help.

Please support my squat challenge to save lives and make a difference.

Every donation, big or small, will get me closer to reaching my goal and helping the National Breast Cancer Foundation end deaths from breast cancer.

Lab Tour

Thursday 19th Mar
Recently I was fortunate enough to attend a Lab Tour at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research hosted by the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF).

It was incredible to hear Associate Professor Liz Caldon and her team share the progress being made in targeted therapies for Triple Negative Breast Cancer. The work underway to develop biomarker-driven treatment approaches is not only innovative, but has the potential to significantly improve patient outcomes.

CEO of NBCF, Dr Cleola Anderiesz, presented on the impact of research funding, with projections indicating a potential 40% reduction in breast cancer deaths. A powerful reminder of what sustained investment in research can achieve.

Some sobering context that really stayed with me:
1️⃣ Australia and New Zealand have among the highest breast cancer rates globally
2️⃣ Over the next five years, more than 100,000 new cases are projected

At the same time, there is real progress. Survival rates are improving, and research is continuing to shift what is possible.

Thank you to all of the donations from friends, family, colleagues, and the warriors who have endured their own battles!
