The Cause

Why 58 squats a day?

add remove

To represent and support the 58 Australians diagnosed with breast cancer every day in Australia. The incidence of breast cancer is increasing with more Australians being diagnosed than last year.

When the Squat Challenge started in 2021, the rates of breast cancer diagnosis in Australia was 55 each day. This grew to 57 in 2023, and again growing to 58 in 2025. This increase highlights the growing incidence of breast cancer.

How will the money I raise be used?

With your support, we can speed up the time it takes to make the next significant breast cancer breakthrough – and fast-track our progress towards Zero Deaths from breast cancer.

Since NBCF’s inception in 1994, over $200M into more than 600 world-class reserach projects across Australia. In this time, the death rate from breast cancer in Australia has reduced by over 40%. Visit nbcf.org.au/research to learn more about the ground-breaking research happening right now.
