I’m going PINK for my mom!
Twenty years ago I lost my best friend to breast cancer.
My mom was first diagnosed with breast cancer at 33 years old. With three young kids depending on her, she fought with all her might and went into remission. But just when we thought the coast was clear, the cancer had returned and spread. She passed away at 38, forever changing the lives of myself and my siblings.
Throughout all the hardship she experienced in her life, my mom always kept a smile on her face and brought laughter to the room. Even in the worst of situations she would look for the bright side and humour in things and I am forever grateful to her for instilling that in me.
So this June, I have made the pledge to dye my hair PINK because she taught me life is too short to not have fun and I know she’ll be cracking up at the sight wherever she is!
