My Squat Challenge for breast cancer research

56 Australians will be diagnosed with breast cancer today and a further 9 will die. I want to make a difference to the lives of those 56 Australians impacted by the disease - that is why I am taking on the Squat Challenge to raise vital funds for world-class breast cancer research. But I need your help.

Please support my squat challenge to save lives and make a difference.

Every donation, big or small, will get me closer to reaching my goal and helping the National Breast Cancer Foundation end deaths from breast cancer.

My Updates

Last day

Tuesday 31st Mar
Thank you so much everyone! I made it. I missed two days over the month but made up for it the other days! My physio will be happy to hear that I am done!

Day 30

Monday 30th Mar
I completed the 1736 squats for the month of March with a day spare ( I will still complete them tomorrow).
I have kind of gotten addicted to them and definitely feel stronger in my legs!
My students have been a great help throughout - reminding me and doing them with me - and they are also taking it to the end despite the school competition finalised on Friday!
I am grateful for my students help, grateful for those who donated, grateful for those who encouraged and hopeful that this might help one of the 56 people diagnosed with breast cancer daily!

Day 24

Tuesday 24th Mar
My physio actually suggested that I should stop doing the squats as my leg nerve issues doesn't seem to quiet down. Will have to think about how to still honour this commitment and those 56 people who are diagnosed every single day!

Day 19

Thursday 19th Mar
Back to normal... trying to catch up! My students made a competition out of it today so one did 170 squats but was beaten by the one who did 200!!

Day 18

Wednesday 18th Mar
I have been unwell the last few days so unfortunately I have been unable to complete my squats.
I will make up for it during the week!!!

Day 15

Sunday 15th Mar
My body gave in today......I have been having unrelated pain and nerve issues in my right leg today so I gave up after 20 squats. Luckily my husband made up for it and did 56 for me.

Day 14

Saturday 14th Mar
I am almost there!!
My legs feel continuously sore - I think I go deeper into the squats and that is why it is still hard work!!

But not as hard as beating breast cancer so I continue......

Day 11

Wednesday 11th Mar
Completed squats with my class. Trying to make up for Sunday so completing more every day this week!

I am going to be honest!

Monday 9th Mar
I am so sorry...I didn't get around to doing my 56 squats yesterday - but I did do 24000 steps at Womad!
Today, I have completed the squats before heading in for my last day of volunteering!

Day 7

Saturday 7th Mar
56 squats completed in the shower before heading off to volunteer at Womadelaide!

Winner of week 1 school challenge

Friday 6th Mar
We have made the 56 squats challenge into an internal competition at school! The winner of week 1 was Waterford class which happens to my Year 12 class!

Day 5

Thursday 5th Mar
When you get your students to participate and they smash it out of the park!!

Day 5

Thursday 5th Mar
Completed 26 of the 56 squats at sunrise today. Will complete the rest with my students

Day 4

Wednesday 4th Mar
Was crashing on the couch after a day of sick when I remembered I hadn't done my squats yet!!! But I got up and did them.... they are not getting easier yet!
