WHY I’M DOING 5000 SQUATS IN MARCH!
Saturday 21st Feb
I’m Miranda and I’m a breast cancer survivor. I’m lucky - through early surveillance because of a family history, my cancer was found and removed early. It was emotionally very tough - especially the uncertainty - but I never actually felt sick and so many people, friends and family, showed up for me.
I always liked squats, but I only started weights after diagnosis - working out became a way of letting off steam, changing my headspace as I dealt with the stress and uncertainty. Now, exercising with friends and getting out into the sunshine is still my best way for dealing with all the curveballs life throws.
Three years after cancer, I LOVE the NBCF’s Squat Challenge because it is for everyone - survivors and supporters. We all can get fitter, we can all get those squats lower, and best of all we can get closer to the goal of zero deaths from breast cancer.
Please consider join my journey by making a donation to the NBCF or joining my team, Queens of the Squat Age!
Every squat gets us closer to where we want to be - zero deaths from breast cancer. So, every rep counts. Every dollar helps. And squatting is incredibly good for you. Get low!
