3:27am as as the insomnia kicks in what better time to share a bit of a personal journey I have been on and will travel for a few years to come.

I’ve been tossing up wether to announce my diagnosis, however it’s probably easier this way than everytime I bump into a friend or family member, considering the physical changes are going to be noticeable

A couple of months ago there was a lump found  my breast and after an ultrasound my GP referred me to Peter Mac cancer centre where they conducted multiple tests and I have been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. DR HAU is the best! 

At 39, I never thought my world would be turned on its head as it’s been but as Rob says, you’re an Axiak and if you know how stubborn our temperament is you just know and It has picked the wrong body to invade 

The type of breast cancer I have is metastatic hormone receptive positive breast cancer where is has travelled beyond the breast. I have had bloods taken for gene testing so I will know whether I carry the gene and will need to be vigilant with my girls.

When I had the mass removed and some lymph nodes under my arm the surgeon suggested that a bit of radiation, some tablets and all would be good. 

That wasn’t to be as it has travelled to my lymph nodes which was found post biopsy and the specialist cannot confirm where else in my body that they cannot pinpoint. 

My treatment plan is 6 months of chemotherapy, which causes nausea, low immune system, hair loss and everything else that sounds crap in life.
Then radiation, then surgeries down the line.

I told Rob I wasn’t going to chemo on Tuesday, I don’t want to, I can’t. But then I look at my babies and I have no choice. I worry for them, I worry for Rob and I worry for all my tribe that I have shared this with so far that care. And I realize it’s just another chapter in my book. 

I had my first chemo session on Tuesday and so far so good, there is nausea, bone pain, fatigue, chemo brain (the worst when you can’t think straight) and in a couple of weeks no hair, but that’s small price for a big gain of being well again.

I like to think my tribe is tight and you guys will give me the kick I need when I’m feeling low. 
And I cannot express my gratitude enough for the meals, flowers, gifts, messages, help with the kids and prayers I’ve received so far. And the offers of help! Which I struggle to accept. 

I will fight this and be stronger than ever !
