My Squat Challenge for breast cancer research

I'm doing this for my mum, who was strong and stoic until the end. 56 squats every day for 31 days is going to be tough on my legs, especially with the added weight of a barbell, but it will be nothing compared to what my mother would have gone through with her battle with breast cancer.

So why 56 squats every day?!? Because 56 Australians will be diagnosed with breast cancer today and a further 9 will die. I want to make a difference to the lives of those 56 Australians impacted by the disease - that is why I am taking on the Squat Challenge to raise vital funds for world-class breast cancer research. But I need your help.

I'm still here, still squatting... just getting slack posting about it! 

I have officially squatted over 1000 times so far this month. Only 700 and something more squats to go

✨ Squat Challenge ✨
Today I decided to check out my 1 Rep Max on the barbell squat. Not exactly feeling my best this morning (just feeling meh) I pushed myself through. 100kg has been my previous 1RM, and with the way I was feeling, all I wanted to do was match it, which is what I accomplished today 😅 By the end of March and the end of the challenge, I will do my 1RM again and see how much I’ll have improved 🏋🏻‍♀️

Saturday 7th Feb
Today I started conditioning my legs ready for March's Squat Challenge. 

As I haven't done much over the past few weeks due to illness, I opted to start lightly by doing 100kg Leg Press, 50kg Leg Press Calf Raises, Laying Leg Raises to help stabilise the core, and some good stretching moves to help with quicker recovery. I'll be building on this over the next couple of weeks until we hit March
