I'm now a Zero Hero
My wish today, tomorrow and every day until it becomes a reality, is for there to be a cure for Stage 4 Breast Cancer. I’m not usually one to post details of my private life on social media, however if this helps to spread awareness and raise even one more dollar towards Breast Cancer research, then it will be worth it.
Many of you may already know, that in April of this year our beautiful, kind hearted and incredibly brave Mum was diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer. What many of you don’t know is that there is not YET a cure for this stage, and that every time you donate to the Breast Cancer Foundation it goes towards vital research that has already saved millions of women and men around the world through various treatments and clinical trials.
I am not going to talk about what our Mum has experienced both mentally and physically over these past 5 months. This is not my story to tell, but I can promise you that in 10 years’ time, Michelle Ross will still be here telling it and will go on to inspire so many women that are living with metastatic breast cancer, that this isn’t the end.
There are truly no words for the warrior that our Mum is, nor will there ever be enough words in the dictionary that express the depth of love we have for her. It runs to the ends of the earth and beyond. I know that anyone who knows our Mum feels the exact same way. Our love for you is infinite.
This year we have experienced what it is like for our hearts to shatter into a million tiny little pieces and not know how to start piecing them back together again. But we have also experienced a magnitude of love and support like we never have before. Every moment has become more meaningful, the little things you take for granted are now the big things that we care for the most. That is your family, your health, your friends.
With that being said, I have decided to cut off my hair to raise money for the Breast Cancer Foundation. This is for my Mum and for the millions of brave women and men currently fighting this disease everyday. This is for those loved ones we have tragically lost to this disease, and for the future 1 in 7 women (and 1 in 700 men) that will be diagnosed during their lifetime.
Please, dig deep and donate below. Literally every cent counts. If you are not in a position to do so that is okay too, I hope you at least take away this:
1. CHECK YOUR BOOBS!!! Do it, now.
2. LISTEN TO YOUR INTUITION. If something doesn’t feel right, get a second opinion.
3. BE GRATEFUL. Hold your loved ones close, cherish every day that you are given and choose not to sweat the small stuff.
