Support my challenge to swim for breast cancer!
I'm swimming 9kms this November to raise funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. I hope to raise $500 for vital breast cancer research to save lives, and would LOVE your support.
As a BRCA2 gene carrier with a familial history
of breast (and other) cancer, I know my risk of developing breast cancer or any
cancer, is higher than people without this gene mutation, and thankfully due to
the invaluable research conducted by organisations such as the NBCF, people
like myself are educated about our inherent increased risk and I felt informed
to make the decision to undergo a preventative mastectomy at the age of 27,
it’s a decision that took time, but it felt right to reduce my risk.
During November I’ll be dedicating all my swims to the 9 people in Australia
who lose their lives to breast cancer each and every day and of course, my
family members who have endured the journey of breast cancer, treatment and
remission.
