As many of you are aware, 2 years ago I was diagnosed with Stage 4 , Metastatic Breast Cancer for which there is no cure. I'm very fortunate to be enjoying good health and stable disease at the moment. My mother in law Brigitte passed away from breast cancer in 1993 at just 47 years of age and 30 years later women are still dying of this disease. One of the few things I can do to help keep my cancer stable is to exercise daily and I currently drag my fat arse to pilates and exercise physiology weekly, but I need to do more. Since I came home from my holiday mid year I have been a little slack and not riding my bike daily as I should. So I have set myself a challenge to ride 250km this month, which is breast cancer awareness month and raise funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF). There are many good causes that raise money for breast cancer, but very little money goes to research to cure metastatic breast cancer, NBCF is doing a great job in this area and working towards zero deaths from breast cancer. So if you have a few dollars to spare please donate what you can and help motivate me to get back on my bike and help NBCF!
