99KM for the 9! 🩷
This November, I’m swimming 99km to honour the approximately 9 Australians who lose their lives to breast cancer every day, raise funds and awareness for breast cancer research and support, and contribute towards a future where fewer lives are affected by this disease.
The challenge will involve swimming 9km on 9 separate days, representing the approximately 9 lives lost each day, plus an additional 18km throughout the month, for a total of 99km.
Having grown up with a strong swimming background, I feel incredibly fortunate to have the ability to take on a challenge like this. I wanted to use something I’m capable of doing to contribute to something much bigger than myself.
While 99km will be a physical and mental challenge, it’s a challenge I’m choosing to take on because I can.
For so many people affected by breast cancer, the challenges they face aren’t a choice.
If I can use my strength, experience and love for swimming to raise awareness, support vital research and help make even a small difference in the lives of those affected, then every kilometre is worth it.
I’m fortunate enough to be able to swim this distance, so I want to make those kilometres count for something.
