9 people in Australia die from breast cancer every single day.

This November, I am taking part in Swim For Breast Cancer for the mothers, sisters, daughters, friends and loves ones who are impacted by this devastating disease.

I am doing this to raise funds for National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) to support vital breast cancer research to help save lives.

πŸ’— Laps for a cause πŸ’—

Last year, I took on a swimming challenge to raise funds for the Australian National Breast Cancer Foundation. What started as a way to support a cause close to my heart ended up raising a little over $1,000, which was unbelievable!

This year, I'm back for round two, and I'm aiming to go a little harder (go hard or go home, right?!).

The challenge is to swim as many kilometres as possible throughout November, with an ambitious stretch goal of mine to swim 9km in a single day.

The numbers behind this challenge are pretty sobering. In Australia, 9 women lose their lives to breast cancer every day, and in New Zealand, 1 in 9 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.

Both statistics hit close to home. Over the past few years, three amazing Wāhine Toa in my life have been diagnosed and are currently living with breast cancer.

So, this November, I'll be spending plenty of time in the pool, pushing myself a little further and hopefully raising even more money to support breast cancer research.
