Support my challenge to swim for breast cancer!
9 people in Australia die from breast cancer every single day.
This November, I am taking part in Swim For Breast Cancer. I am so grateful for all the research that has already been done that resulted in a positive outcome for myself this year and I want this to continue. I am so fortunate to have had excellent care to ensure I was going to be around to see my little boy grow up! None of that would be possible without research.
I am doing this to raise funds for National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) to support vital breast cancer research to help save lives.

A bit about my journey
Wednesday 2nd OctI am doing this so that many more people can have a happy outcome like I have had. The last year has been hectic but I am so grateful that all the research that had been done years before my diagnosis has helped not only me but my baby. When I was 29 weeks pregnant I got my diagnosis. Unfortunately if I wanted to see my son grow up it wasn't an option to wait until he was born to start treatment. While I was pregnant I started chemo then Patrick was born at 37 and half weeks. The happiest most chilled baby that brought so much joy to our lives. Patrick is now 10months old. Being his mum and watching him grow is incredible!
After Patrick was born it was back to chemo to finish the course and then I had surgery. I found out I had a complete pathological response which was the best case scenario. I then had a 3 week course of radiotherapy. I still have some effects from treatment. Recently I have been diagnosed with lymphodema so currently I am working on managing that. Swimming is one of the most recent things I've started for management, which is why I decided the swim for breast cancer was a great opportunity to help raise vital funds.
