Bri Goes PINK

I have pledged to GO PINK for all of June.

Support my GO PINK pledge to save lives and make a difference. Together, let's make Zero Deaths from breast cancer possible!

Did you know that every day 56 people in Australia are diagnosed with breast cancer and 9 people die from this disease?

This June, I've made a pledge to WEAR IT and COLOUR IT to raise funds for world-class breast cancer research to help NBCF towards their vision of Zero Deaths from breast cancer.

My pledge is in memory of my Grandmother, Sandra 🩷

This year hits a little different, in December I had my own scare after finding a lump in my right breast. Though thankfully instead of cancer it appears to be multiple clusters of clustered cysts, uncomfortable and painful but not life threatening. But for the first time, I lived those moments that thousands of people have lived before. The waiting for answers, the scans, the blood tests, practically living at my GP and the constant fears of 'what if'.

It was not to the extent people who are unfortunately diagnosed with breast cancer get to, but it was a real eye opener to how those initial moments feel, and I feel so deeply remorseful for the ones that get that heartbreaking diagnosis. So please support my GO PINK pledge to save lives and make a difference.

I don’t want to say goodbye to my best friend, my mum, the same way she had to.

My Grandmother found out she had breast cancer when she was 50 years old, she sadly passed away at the young age of 51, I was barely 4 months old at the time.

She was told by many doctors that the pain she was experiencing was simply a pinched nerve or something similar. She was in pain for 2-4 months but was too scared to tell my mum, worried she would miscarry me as she had had many miscarriages herself, before having a hysterectomy at 35.

When they finally removed her breasts they discovered they were both riddled with cancer and that it had gotten into her lymph nodes… by the end of that year she had passed away. She knew for 1 year… yet they said she could have had it for up to 10 years all together.

My Nan was 1 of 6 children, 2 boys and 4 girls. Out of the 4 sisters 2 passed away from breast cancer. 50%!

Though I don’t remember her I have a bond that can not be explained.

So please donate to this cause, together, we can stop deaths from breast cancer.
