On the 18 August 2024, the long red locks are coming off!
Years ago I said the only reason I would ever shave my hair, would be to raise money for cancer research. Recently it dawned on me that I had said this and in combination with my mum going through breast cancer a second time, another family member recently being diagnosed and my grandmother having it many years ago (amongst multiple other people I know), I thought 'Um why are you not doing this?!'.
On the 18 August 2024, the long red locks are coming off and I've decided to shave my head, not completely bald but mostly. When I told my hairdresser she was excited about the prospect of the different hair styles we can do as it grows back. Whilst I'm worried, the worry will never be that of those that go through breast cancer (or any cancer) and the treatment that follows.
Did you know that every day 57 people in Australia are diagnosed with breast cancer and 9 people lose their lives to this disease?
