An Introduction

My name is Bethany, but for 5 days a week I'm Miss Innes, or McInnDog if you're Kaleb.  I am doing this fundraiser with a student of mine, who will introduce himself below. I'm shaving my head to raise money for NBCF and world-class breast cancer research. I have students in my class that have been affected, through their families, by breast cancer in significant ways and believe I can make a personal impact for them as well as contributing to a great cause.

Hi, I’m Kaleb, I am fundraising for breast cancer, the reason why I am fundraising for breast cancer is because my mum suffered from breast cancer and it made her life really hard. My mum survived unlike the 3,034 people in 2018 and in 2020 3,031 people died. If we reach our goal of $200 I have to dye my hair pink and if we reach $850 I get to shave my teachers hair. I think you should donate, because just little amounts of money can make very big differences. Thank you!

From both Kaleb and myself, the most spectacular thank you! Our original target of $850 was blown out of the water, and the impact of our families, friends and community are the reason why we achieved so much. 

I will be sending out or thank you video to our sponsors, but there are other people I need to thank in addition to that. 

First, to Christy Davies, who made and donated over 200 cupcakes, including donating the ingredients. This helped our school-based fundraising add $510 to out goal. We also need to thank Charlie Harris for making some special cupcakes and helping us achieve our goal. 

To Kaleb's family, for going on this journey with us and being supportive of us both. And my family and friends for being willing to tolerate my undoubtedly unbearable excitement and anxiety for the loss of my hair.

And to Kaleb himself. It's been the most life-changing experience to do this with you. Never in my lifetime could I have predicted that taking up teaching would lead to something as incredible as this. I'm so immensely proud of you and your achievement. As sad as I'm going to be when I let you go at the end of this year, and move you off to high school, I'll rest assured that you know who you are, and that you'll be okay. Scratch that, you'll be amazing. My door will always be open for you, my dude.
