I'VE PLEDGED TO GO PINK FOR In memory of Family & Friends we have lost, Fighting for the ones diagnosed, & for our Future

F**k Cancer!! We hear it every day, either someone we know has lost someone to it, our Family, our Friends… how many people have to go through this? How many more lives have to be lost because of it? How much pain to fight it, and after the pain….what about those who fight just to be told… it’s back!!!  I was barely out of my teens when Breast Cancer in particular started to take away my family, and it hasn’t stopped. It has also affected friends and I myself have had a few scares… it’s something I’m always thinking about in the back of my head. When I see the colour pink, I think of the colour of Aunty Ninny’s (Lynn) casket, anyone who knew her knew that she would never be sent off without looking her best 🩷🩷 It’s been a long time since she has passed, but I still think of her, what she has missed.. her daughter growing up, her niece (me) who spent many holidays with her who is now married and has a son older than her daughter was when she passed, and my sisters growing up and becoming adults… Watching a love one pass is never something I would wish for anyone, it’s terrible and painful and that image should never be the last moments with them, and no mother or father should ever have to plan their child’s funeral. Since then many have passed, family, friends, people we know and people who we don’t… but if there’s a chance to help those who are fighting Breast Cancer and to Fight for a cure for our Future and our Families & Friends futures, I’ll do what it takes!! My gorgeous inside and out Friend Alana who started off as my TikTok duet buddy who would dance around in crazy costumes, with a smile so bright it went from ear to ear, and was just SO full of life and energy and joy has just spent the last almost 3 years fighting breast cancer!! We have always been FaceTime caller people as we like to see eachother when we talk, and boy can we talk!!! Alana had just been through a really rough time already, she had just lost her mother and life was hard enough.. then to get the news she had breast cancer, it broke my heart, why her!! Why now!! In true Alana style she has fought every day, the calls have been shorter, check ins have become more of a text sometimes, just a 🥰 to let her know I’m not needing a reply, just thinking of her. After 2 years of radiation and chemotherapy and a lot of physical, emotional & mental pain Alana was feeling like she was on the mend, just needing to get herself stronger and healthier… since then my beautiful friend has found out that she tested positive for the Braca 2 gene. Which can be a recurrence of breast cancer in either breast and also fallopian tubes and ovaries. To prevent recurrence Alana has undergone a double mastectomy and is awaiting hysterectomy surgery. Alana is still fighting, and her story has more pages to it…. But I want to make sure that her story of bravery & courage helps others and to know how important it is to find a cure for this thing we call Breast Cancer. Did you know that every day 56 people in Australia are diagnosed with breast cancer and 9 people die from this disease?   This June, we've made a pledge to WEAR IT, SHAVE IT or COLOUR IT and raise funds for world-class breast cancer research to help NBCF towards their vision of Zero Deaths from breast cancer.   I personally am not much of a pink wearing person, Black is my go to…. But for the month of June I will EVERY day wear as much pink as I can!!! From earrings in my ears, nail polish on my fingers, clothes, socks, and if I can find some pink boots for winter, those too!!!  Whilst I can’t dye my hair Pink due to medical issues I will be finding pink hair accessories and maybe some pink clip in extensions  Please support our GO PINK pledge to save lives and make a difference.   Together, let's make Zero Deaths from breast cancer possible.  In memory of Family & Friends we have lost, Fighting for the ones diagnosed, & for our Future
