My Squat Challenge for breast cancer research
This March, I’ve decided to do something meaningful. I’ve registered for the Squat for Breast Cancer Challenge and will be completing 112 squats every single day throughout the month. That’s 3472 in the entire month (anyone who knows me knows this is an insane commitment).
While I’m only one person and can’t change the world on my own, raising funds to help researchers better understand and combat breast cancer is something that truly matters to me.
Every day in Australia, 56 people are diagnosed with breast cancer and 9 lose their lives to the disease. This includes 1 in 600 men.
Although my life hasn’t been directly affected by breast cancer specifically, cancer has affected people I love. I’ve seen the fear, the strength, and the impact it can have on families. That alone is enough reason for me to want to help in any way I can.
1 in 7 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Women are such a strong and important part of my life, many of whom I deeply admire, and knowing that at least one of them, or even myself, could face this diagnosis is confronting.
My fundraising goal is $500. Any donation, big or small, will go towards helping scientists reduce the impact and death toll of breast cancer. There are over 160,000 people currently living in Australia who have been diagnosed in the past 10 years. If your contribution can help even one person, you’ve made a difference.
Thank you so much for your support, whether that’s donating or simply sharing this with others.
