The Sleep Swimmers

The beginning

I always find getting in the pool the hardest. The shock as the wave of water hits you, envelops you with a change of temperature that makes your body jump from inside to out.
Today, it began. I faced my fear and got in. This is small and insignificant compared to the challenges facing those who tackle breast cancer.
The water was warm and it was an enjoyable swim.
To reach 9km I will need to swim 720 laps. I got my pebbles ready to help with the count. 24 laps a day in November is required. Dog paddling was my chosen stroke today. Recovering from a chest infection,  I just didn't want my head under. Unable to find my bathers that I have clearly not used for some time and put in a 'safe' place, today was shirt and undies. Nothing was going to stop the beginning.
I swam the 24 laps comfortably, the water warm and my body happy. I decided to enjoy the moment. The warm water temp and the chorus of birds waking up and going about their morning song.
The chooks looked at me a bit befuddled. What is she doing? I even heard the cat meowing for our cuddle.
I kept on and to my surprise did an enjoyable 80 laps. Wow. 1km done ??.
3 days worth. I can do this.

Support our challenge to swim for breast cancer!

9 people in Australia die from breast cancer every single day.

This November, we're taking part in Swim For Breast Cancer for the mothers, sisters, daughters, friends and loves ones who are impacted by this devastating disease.

We're doing this to raise funds for National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) to support vital breast cancer research to help save lives.

Please make a donation to support our challenge and let's make a splash to save lives together!

Thank you for your support.
