Support my challenge to swim for breast cancer!

9 people in Australia die from breast cancer every single day.

This November, I am taking part in Swim For Breast Cancer for the mothers, sisters, daughters, friends and loves ones who are impacted by this devastating disease.

I am doing this to raise funds for National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) to support vital breast cancer research to help save lives.

Please make a donation to support my challenge and let’s make a splash to save lives together!

Thank you for your support.

My Updates

Goal reached!

Sunday 24th Nov
A challenge accepted and now completed a few days early. Proud of myself for sticking with it in spite of a mid challenge vacation. It's been great!

Nearly done. 1.25 km to go to reach target

Friday 22nd Nov
Had the pool to ourselves tonight. Did 1.2km and could have kept swimming. Pool buddy hubby encouraging me all the way.

85% of the way there

Thursday 21st Nov
Think I might sneak ina few more kms before end of November.

Lunch swim in the rain

Wednesday 20th Nov
Another km down and a step closer to my target. Will hopefully reach 18km by end of weekend and then will swim a few more. In my head, 20km was my target.

Swimming in the rain

Tuesday 19th Nov
Not really a fan of swimming in the rain, but my pool buddy hubby insisted I still do my daily km. I hopped in the 25 metre pool, as the 50 metre pool was too busy. Time went quickly and swimming in the rain in a heated pool wasn't too bad.

Day 13 - night swimming

Monday 18th Nov
A swim after work today - to the tunes from the 6pm aqua Zumba class.

A little over 5km to go to meet my swim target.

Day 12 - Sunday feels

Sunday 17th Nov
A slow and steady swim today with my pool buddy hubby. 1.1km and a 7am swum for the win.

Day 11 - 1.2km to kicknoff Saturday

Saturday 16th Nov
My one-man support crew shared my lane this morning and encouraged me to do a few extra laps beyond 1km - just to prove I could do it. Love a good challenge!

Day 10 and halfway to my km goal

Friday 15th Nov
Well, I did it! Got halfway to my km goal by mid month, in spite of my 4 day break and a few storms resulting in pool closures. Thanks so much for your support. Together we've raised nearly $700 for breast cancer so far!

Getting close to my halfway goal

Wednesday 13th Nov
I felt a bit sluggish in the water today. Still got a km done. I had a cheeky NZ glass of wine last night. Nearly at my goal halfway point.

Back in the pool after a short break - 1km

Tuesday 12th Nov
We're back relaxed and refreshed after an early morning flight home from New Zealand. 1km done mid afternoon today. 25 metre pool. Felt comfy.

Day 7 - 1km done, over 30% of way to my goal

Thursday 7th Nov
Another good morning swim, but I was slower today. Swum 7 days straight. Having a pool break until 12 November while we take on anniversary break.

Day 6 - 8am swim on my day off, 1.1km

Wednesday 6th Nov
Beautiful morning swim. Was hoping to swim longer, but school swimming started. Felt comfy today. Creeping up on a third of my challenge pledge.

Day 5 - only 200 metres due to an electrical storm

Tuesday 5th Nov
Sadly I couldn't get my kilometre in tonight as the pool was closed due to electrical activity. There's always tomorrow! 200 metres is better than nothing.

Day 4 - 1km after work swim

Monday 4th Nov
I was tired tonight, but the water was cool and it was a nice way to end a busy work day. I could have probably swum further, but energy was low after 30 minutes. Getting easier every day.

Day 3 - 1km done with my fav human

Sunday 3rd Nov
7am Sunday swim. Too many Sunday lap swimmers to make it enjoyable, but done nevertheless.

Day 2 done - only managed 850 metres today

Saturday 2nd Nov
Lovely 6am swim. Swam a little less than yesterday afternoon. Still recovering! Cam joined me in the lane. Only wish my Garmin did better with recording swimming. It is hopeless!

Thank you for your generous donations - first km done!

Friday 1st Nov
Thanks to everyone who's donated. I've been so overwhelmed at your kind support. I've had to adjust my target donation amount a few times now and I'm currently aiming to raise $600 for breast cancer.

I had a great sunset swim to wrap up the week knocking off 1km to start the challenge. Felt comfortable, but slow...still got the ticker going.

Cam has me heading back to the pool at 6am tomorrow.

Thanks again for your support and have a great weekend.
