Breast Cancer affects many people both directly and indirectly making it the 2nd most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia and is one of the most significant health issues in Australia. According to Cancer Australia, in 2025 there were over 20,000 new diagnoses of breast cancer in both men and women. Additionally, approximately 1 in 7 women worldwide will be diagnosed with breast cancer in there lifetime which highlights how common and widespread Breast Cancer is. On average, 9 people lose their liver each day, which shows the severity and impact of Breast Cancer. However, with early detection the survival rate skyrockets (27.4% to 93?cording to Cancer Australia) which reinforces the importance of awareness, education and timely medical support.

This fundraiser in an opportunity to turn awareness into real, tangible support. While awareness is important, it is done through actions such as fundraising which make change occur. The money raised can contribute to many areas such as life saving research, improved treatments, and essential support services for patients such as financial struggles and specialised nursing care that allow them and their families during the challenging times.

"PINKy Swear We Care" was created to reflect a simple but powerful promise being that we as a community stand with those who are affected by Breast Cancer and to show them that they are not alone in this, but that people are always there to hold a hand out. Through this fundraiser, the goal is not only to support those within our community, but also to contribute to a broader movement working towards better outcomes for all individuals who have been affected by Breast Cancer.

In addition to the funds raised through this fundraiser, I will also be personally donating 10% of my own earnings during the period to further support Breast Cancer research and related support services, as a way of contributing beyond the event itself and I will also be dyeing my hair pink to show my personal commitment and support for this cause.
