Lose the locks...

By Warrick Martin

Why?

In 2021, it is projected that 20,030 people will be diagnosed with breast cancer in Australia, including 19,866 women and 164 men. An average of 55 people per day. It is estimated that 150,782 new cases of (any) cancer will be diagnosed in Australia (80,371 males and 70,411 females). An average of 413 people per day.

You or someone you are close to will be, or will have been affected by Breast Cancer by age 50.

Everyone has a story, mine is rather simple.

My maternal grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer when I was in my mid teens. It spread agressively, Despite multiple rounds of chemo and radio therapy, it spread to her brain. She died.

My paternal grandfather was diagnosed with cancer when I was in my early thirties, it spread to his organs. He died.

My paternal grandmother was also diagnosed with cancer just 2 years after my grandfather had passed. She died.

My mother was in recent years diagnosed with cancer. She survived.

My partner, was diagnosed with breast cancer in May of 2016. She survived.

I've been growing my hair since January 2017, that's ALMOST 5 years, with a charitable head shave in mind and have put it off because it wasn't long enough to donate, or because of COVID, among other reasons...

I want a world where there are ZERO deaths, and not just from breast cancer, but any cancer. I believe every death from cancer is one too many. To achieve this, I’m raising funds for more research. All donations made to this page will help do exactly that.

The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) is Australia’s leading national body funding game-changing breast cancer research with money raised entirely by the Australian public.

I really believe research is the best way to prevent deaths, and improve how breast cancer is diagnosed, managed and treated. NBCF is working towards one goal: zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030. Together we can help them get there.

Click 'Donate' to make a secure online donation and help me reach my goal. Every donation, big or small, will help me get there. Please donate today.

All donations over $2 are tax deductible and you will be issued with a tax-deductible receipt via email as soon as you make your donation.

Thank you so much for your support!
