Our Story
My mum has been the most instrumental woman in my life. My biggest support, role model and confidant. She's made countless sacrifices for me and helped me see the man I could become when I couldn't see it myself.
She was recently diagnosed with a rare form of Breast Cancer called Triple-Negative Breast Cancer. In this form of cancer, the cancer cells do not have estrogen, progesterone, or HER2 receptors which means that the cancer will not respond to hormonal therapy. Additionally, as she has already received radiation before; this is no longer an option.
Essentially, the only way we're going to kick this cancer's butt is through chemotherapy.
As we all know, one of the side effects of chemotherapy is hair loss.
After all she has done for me over my lifetime, I wanted to stand in solidarity with her during her chemotherapy treatment.
I will be shaving my head and am hoping to collect a few gold coins along the way for Breast Cancer research.
I am thinking of setting up some sort of event in March, although I will need to iron out the details at a later stage.
Please consider donating to this cause to not only show support for my mum but also the 58 women who are diagnosed with breast cancer every day in Australia.
I have a small head and big ears, so this is not a decision I made lightly :' ).
