Doing it for the tata's

By QRT Wear Pink day

This January I'm setting myself a challenge to raise money for NBCF and world-class breast cancer research by going without fast food & chocolate for the whole month.

The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) is Australia’s leading national body funding game-changing breast cancer research with money raised entirely by the Australian public.

I believe research is the best way to prevent deaths, and improve how breast cancer is diagnosed, managed and treated.

My Updates

Still going..

Tuesday 4th Feb

So I didn't quite meet my target by the end of January...

So I decided to keep going til I meet my $1500 target. It's now day 35 with no chocolate and I'm sure the old saying 'good things come to those who wait' applies but holy batman do I want to eat some chocolate!!

I also realised the block I bought in anticipation has actually passed the best before date. I'm sad by this but will probably eat it anyway lol.

Only $250 to go til target!

Day 30... So close yet so far

Thursday 30th Jan

Well I honestly didn't think I'd be this far into no chocolate or take away. I was sure I would crack at some point. But through the support from my amazing family and friends here I am, 30 days in and one day to go. I'm just over half way to my fundraising goal, it's frustrating that I'm still so far from my target but I know every little bit counts. It helps people like my beautiful sister who is so strong currently facing this life challenge, people like my grandma who gave the middle finger to cancer over 50 years ago. I want help make a difference so that the only bad C word in the future is one that shouldn't be typed! ?

Day 10

Friday 10th Jan

So far so good, no chocolate or take away has been consumed. I'm not going to lie, it's been challenging as I've had to make better choices and be more prepared. In saying that the challenges I face are nothing to what my amazingly strong sister faces every day since her diagnosis. Every time I start to have a craving for chocolate (I'm going to be honest this one has been harder to give up), I remember why I'm doing this. What my goal is and thinking of why this is not only helping me but some many others ?

The last day...

Tuesday 31st Dec

We'll it's the last day of 2019, which means today is the last day to enjoy some chocolate and take away. It's also chemo day for my sister, and like her first session, I'll be going with her.

We've got a plan to make sure at least some of her last day of this year, I mean even this decade, is fun ?

Honestly I know I'm going to be challenged with this "no chocolate/take away" thing but I know I can always ring my sister who will encourage me to keep going. That's why she will beat this horrible thing, because she's strong, she's a fighter and I'm so honoured to call her my sister ?

So it begins..

Saturday 21st Dec

Tonight I made the decision to help raise funds to help find a cure for breast cancer.

In November 2019 my sister found out she had breast cancer, to say I was devastated when she told me is an understatement. My best friend, my partner in crime and confidant had been told she had a challenge ahead of her.

She is strong and stubborn and will kick cancers butt and I will be with her every step  of the way!

I've decided to give up fast food and chocolate for the month of January. It doesn't sound like much to some people, but to those that know me, know I'm a sugar fiend!
