Udderly Pink, Udderly Aware

Did you know that every day 57 people in Australia are diagnosed with breast cancer and 9 people lose their lives to this disease?

This June, we have made a pledge to colour our hair and wear it PINK to raise awareness and funds for world-class breast cancer research to help NBCF towards their vision of Zero Deaths from breast cancer.

Please support our GO PINK pledge to save lives and make a difference.

Together, we can stop deaths from breast cancer.

My Updates

Pink is fading but hope is not

Monday 24th Jun
1 week to go of active fundraising for GoPink2024. I'm still holding out hope to reach my goal to contribute to breast cancer research. I'm so thankful for all the support, donations and kind words over the last month. It means the world to me.

2 weeks in

Friday 14th Jun
So I'm 2 weeks in and so grateful for all the encouragement, love and support from my family and friends but I'd really love to achieve my fund-raising goal by the end of the month. So please donate if you can, share my link or have a look over NBCF website to see if maybe there's a fundraiser you want to take part in personally.

June 10

Friday 14th Jun
My pupper Penny has always been my biggest supporter, unconditionally. Last year in September she was also diagnosed with cancer and one of the products I use to disinfect and protect her wounds is PINK! So it's been fun matching with my favourite soul in the whole universe

June 3rd

Friday 14th Jun
Informed my manager and coworkers of incoming colour change but they forgot, was quite the shock getting a brand new employee on Monday ??

Hair after (why the yellow?)

Friday 14th Jun
I'm a disability support worker by trade and last year I lost a person I support to lung cancer. My uncle has also battled (and won round 1) of lung cancer. I also know a few others who have fought, won or still battling various cancers and it's just a scrappy disease. Yellow in colour theory represents joy, sense of self and hope. It's also used by the cancer council for daffodil day and just thought it would be a nice way to raise awareness for other cancer while raising money for NBCF ?

Hair after

Friday 14th Jun
In absolute disbelief at the cut and colour. I knew Kara was incredibly talented but this was next level.

Hair during

Friday 14th Jun
My beautiful friend Kara has a home salon set up and was incredibly accommodating, fitting me in last minute and making this incredible transformation happen.

Hair before

Friday 14th Jun
Haven't had my hair cut or coloured professionally in about 2 years. Haven't had enough cares to even deal with my regrowth at home so needed a good chop and colour

May 31st

Friday 14th Jun
When looking up things to post on socials for GoPink2024 back in May, I realised I hadn't checked myself. I got out of the shower one day, raised my arms and looked in the mirror. Bam. Massive lump sticking out of my left breast. My stomach dropped but I told myself it was just a clogged duct as Ive suffered from mammary duct ectasia for about 8 years. But it got worse. I don't have any answers yet, but I'm confident if it is anything sinister, it's been caught early. This is me the day before I died my hair pink for GoPink2024. In the bathroom of the hospital, prior to my first ever mammogram. Please check yourself, monitor breast changes, trust your gut and always strongly advocate for yourself. Early detection is key to effective treatment and survival.
