My name is Fi, I've decided to go pink this October!!

This is to help raise money for breast cancer research. My sister has conquered breast cancer which had travelled through her lymph nodes, the experience was very daunting to an onlooker. I stood by and watched her bravely embracing the disease going through the trauma of a mastectomy then chemo and radio treatment to come out on the other side with relief as she is still here to hug me every moment that we have.

Recently, my mum rang me to tell me those words no-one wants to hear once let alone twice ..... "Are you sitting down?  I have breast cancer."  She is about to embark on her journey which at this stage we are aware that once she has surgery it will be cured and is not hereditary, relief.

Whether it is yourself or a loved one going through a cancer diagnosis and treatment, the effects are both devastating and long lasting. It makes you wonder whether any little lump or sensitivity is the "C" word.  Watching someone close to you go through such a difficult and trying time, you feel hopeless standing on the side lines, not able to fix it or take the pain and suffering away from them. 

Did you know that every day 58 people in Australia are diagnosed with breast cancer and 9 Australians die every day from this disease?  

I've decided to colour my hair and raise funds for world-class breast cancer research to help National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) towards their vision of Zero Deaths from breast cancer.
