Breast cancer has deeply impacted my family. My mum, Janet Grant, is currently undergoing her second round of chemotherapy in her ongoing fight against this disease. Her mother—my grandmother—also battled breast cancer. Watching their strength and resilience has inspired me.
That’s why George and I are diving in and challenging ourselves with a fundraising swim to support the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF). We want to help raise money for world-class research and work towards NBCF’s vision of Zero Deaths from breast cancer.
Did you know that every day in Australia, 58 people are diagnosed with breast cancer, and 9 lives are lost? These numbers are heartbreaking, but we believe that with continued research, we can help change this reality.
We are swimming not just for my mum, but for every person and family affected by breast cancer. By donating, you are helping to fund vital research that will lead to better treatments, early detection, and ultimately, a future free from breast cancer deaths.

About the Event
On March 9th, 2025 Duncan and George are taking on the Sydney Heads 4000, a thrilling 4-kilometre ocean swim across Sydney’s harbour entrance. Starting at Little Manly Beach and finishing at Camp Cove Beach near Watsons Bay, the event gathers 200 experienced ocean swimmers for a non-competitive challenge. With water safety as a priority, Surf Life Saving NSW will provide rescue boats and jet skis to ensure a safe journey. This unique experience will not only test our endurance but also raise crucial funds for breast cancer research. Support our swim and help make a difference!

Janet is such a great person. I used to go to MARS a lot for their entrepreneurship programs when I was rebuilding myself after a major health crisis. Janet's kind words and encouragement had meant a lot to me. It's been a while now, I am looking forward to catching up with her over tea/coffee when the weather is better in spring.
