I'm now a Zero Hero

I am raising donations for breast cancer because I want a world where there are ZERO deaths from breast cancer.  It is estimated 1 in 7 women is diagnosed with breast cancer, so someone you know may have been impacted by this disease.  

I have chosen to raise funds as I had a family member diagnosed with breast cancer recently.  Breast cancer has a big impact not just on the person suffering from cancer but also on all their loved ones such as family and friends who wish there is something they can do.  I have been growing my hair for over a year since the cancer diagnosis of the family member.  I couldn’t help the person I cared for back then as I had just cut my hair.  However, I can pay it forward to someone else who needs this hair more then me.  I decided to fundraise as donations are needed for research to be successful and also donate my hair so that it can be made into a wig for a cancer or alopecia aerate patients.   

The money raised will be going towards research to The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF).   I really believe research is the best way to prevent deaths, and improve how breast cancer is diagnosed, managed and treated. NBCF is working towards one goal: zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030.

Thursday 17th Mar
Tomorrow is the last day to donate if anyone still would like to donate.  Thank you to all my family, friends and the Thomas Carr community for supporting this wonderful cause.  I also received donations from the US, Canada and New Zealand, this was unexpected and I truly appreciate that everyone supported me to fundraise. I am humbled by everyone's generosity and support to help fundraise for this worthy cause.  
National breast cancer foundation does life changing research with money raised entirely by the public.  Research is the only way how breast cancer is diagnosed, managed and treated.  
National is working towards of a goal of ZERO Deaths from Breast Cancer by 2030!

Hair is making it's way to Variety Children's Charity to help make a wig for a child who is disadvantaged with cancer or Alopecia Aerata.  I am happy my hair will help someone in need.

Thank you to everyone who has donated so far. We are humbled by your generosity.  Also thank you to all friends and family overseas from USA, Canada and New Zealand who have also donated towards this very good cause. 

After a lot of consideration we decided the hair will be donated to the Variety Children's Charity. The hair will be turned into a wig for children who are sick and disadvantaged such as cancer, Alopecia Areata. 

My family has been touched by cancer like so many others.  Through the fundraising process I learnt about other people's difficult journey and survival of breast cancer.  Some people have survived to share their journey.  Some not as lucky and their children are the survivors who share how breast cancer affected their life without a parent. 

The goal is to achieve Zero deaths by 2030 by doing further research which will help find a cure. 

If you are able to then please donate to my breast cancer fundraiser.  It is a good cause which will help many people in the future.  Thank you :)

My initial goal was $500 and with your support I have now raised $2828!!  I plan to cut my hair on the 9th March and will continue to fundraise until then. 
National Breast Cancer Foundation relies on community fundraising to continue research and receive no Government funding. Please donate if you are able to do so.

Good on you Asheriya! So important to find this cancer early through programs such as breast screen. Also through ongoing research. I had the HER2+ strain for which there is a target therapy drug called Herceptin which was only discovered 20 years ago through research. Without it I would not be here.
