I'm now a Zero Hero
Hi there – Cay and Michael here. We just wanted to let you know a little bit about why we are shaving our heads for breast cancer research:
(CAY) ‘My mother and grandmother (pictured below) were diagnosed with breast cancer when I was younger. Both survived with early detection and the dedication and support from all the doctors and nurses involved. I also have close personal friends whose family have had or are currently battling with breast cancer. Personally, I have had a scare myself which resulted in having a mass removed from my right breast in 2019 and I’m currently undergoing regular check-ups to monitor other growths - all looking benign at this stage.’
This cause is near and dear to both our hearts and something we have wanted to do for a long time and are now putting it into action. Through the act of shaving our locks this Easter we can show the world the support, love and respect we have for my mother, grandmother and all the amazing people (men and women) who have battled through breast cancer and have stayed strong.
The money we raise is donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation to assist in early cancer detection and creating a cure so they can reach their goal of zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030.
My (Cay) hair will also be donated to Sustainable Salons who make wigs for chemotherapy patients and persons with alopecia conditions.
Our goal is to raise $5000 for 2021.
