I am a Breast Cancer Warrior and I am raising money because I want a world where there are ZERO deaths from breast cancer. I believe every death from breast cancer is one too many. To achieve this, I’m raising funds for more research. All donations made to this page will help do exactly that. 

The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) is Australia’s leading national body funding game-changing breast cancer research with money raised entirely by the Australian public.

I really believe research is the best way to prevent deaths, and improve how breast cancer is diagnosed, managed and treated. NBCF is working towards one goal: zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030. Together we can help them get there.

Prevention and Risk: A greater understanding of the risk factors for developing breast cancer will be key to prevention, and ultimately eradicating breast cancer. Detection: Early detection of breast cancer is key to saving lives. New and improved treatments: New therapies or new applications for existing therapies is the key to improving patient’s outcomes Quality of life: With more breast cancer survivors than ever before, maintaining a positive quality of life is a crucial part of treatment outcomes

My Journey

Wednesday 27th Jul
On February 4th, 2022 I was diagnosed with Stage 1 ER Positive Breast Cancer. I was 45 with no genetic link. My cancer was found by chance, in fact it was too small to feel and whilst there was no lump, it had already become invasive. They estimate it could have been there for at least 6-12 months. If I hadn’t found a cyst in a complete different area and had a few nudges from the universe, it is very likely that I would still have no idea that my body was being invaded.
Over the past 5 months, my body has been battered by intensive treatment to have the cancer removed and to reduce my risk of recurrence. Whilst right now I can say that I am cancer free, I am not naive to underestimate the power of my opponent should it return.
I wanted to bring attention to this cause by sharing my journey and wanted to thank everybody who has supported me throughout this time. Breast cancer doesn’t just happen to you, it happens to the whole family and everybody who loves you. I am so grateful to have the best husband, children, family, friends and colleagues and I thank God for them everyday. Your love, kind words of support, food, flowers, gifts, transport etc will be forever appreciated. The first half of the attached video is confronting and raw but it is the real deal. I have debated over and over whether to share such personal images and I always come back to the same answer in my head. This is bigger than me and if such images can help just one person have a better prognosis then why not. This is real, with 1 in 7 women being diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Ladies (and men) please check your breasts, have your routine check ups and most of all listen to your body and always trust your instincts. The earlier the diagnosis the better the prognosis. I decided early on that I will continue to raise awareness and raise money for breast cancer research.
