I'm now a Zero Hero
I've decided to shave my head in honour of my wife, Leonie who passed on 6th Feb 2022 after a 17 year battle against breast cancer.
She was first diagnosed in 2005 and just when we thought she was clear she was again diagnosed in 2012 with a different strain. The last diagnosis was in August 2020 with metastatic breast cancer which had moved to her bone.
We spent the next 18 months going to chemo during covid and such were unable to do anything due to the restrictions. She died at home with me at her side and I was privileged to nurse her through this period.
The head shave is to raise money as I want a world where there are ZERO deaths from breast cancer. I believe every death from breast cancer is one too many. To achieve this, I’m raising funds for more research. All donations made to this page will help do exactly that.
I really believe research is the best way to prevent deaths, and improve how breast cancer is diagnosed, managed and treated. NBCF is working towards one goal: zero deaths from breast cancer. Together we can help them get there.
