RAISED TO SAVE LIVES

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH IS THIS OCTOBER. WILL YOU HOLD A FUNDRAISER TO HELP MAKE ZERO DEATHS FROM BREAST CANCER A REALITY?

This October, Australians across the country are coming together to raise vital funds for world-class breast cancer research. Whether you are holding a pink pilates day at your local gym or taking on 56km for the month, every fundraiser helps bring us closer to our vision of Zero Deaths from breast cancer.

Did you know... 56 people in Australia are diagnosed with breast cancer every day. While survival rates continue to improve, too many lives are still impacted by this disease.

By fundraising during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, you'll help the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) fund world-class research focused on precision prevention, detecting breast cancer as early as possible, stopping the progression and recurrence of breast cancer, and treating hard-to-treat and metastatic breast cancer – research that ultimately saves lives.

IDEAS FOR YOUR BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH FUNDRAISER

Hold a Pink Pilates Session

Grab your friends and family, get everyone to wear their best pink active outfit and hold a pink pilates class at your local studio!

Get Active & Take on a Challenge

Get active by taking on 56km for the month to represent the 56 people in australia who are diagnosed with breast cancer.

Change Up your Hair!

This is perfect opportunity to shave, cut or colour your hair! If you aren't feeling ready for a permanent change, you could always try a temporary style for the month!

You're funding hope

If we can stop breast cancer from progressing and recurring, we can help end deaths from breast cancer.  This is why ‘Stop’ is one of the four core research objectives in our Pink Horizon Research Strategy.

Amy was diagnosed in January 2024, and her mum was diagnosed with breast cancer the same week, which was luckily caught early.

“Everything just stopped. The next two weeks were a whirlwind of appointments, more scans/tests. It was so overwhelming and scary - for my three young daughters, what was to come, you just think the worst-case scenario and start planning for that in an instant!

Being under 40, I had the opportunity to undergo genetics testing which turns out that mine is not due to a gene fault. It's what the geneticist called, bad luck.

I'm coping well with treatment and have found that keeping the body and mind active through exercise, work and maintaining some normality helps a lot."

research making an impact

NBCF is Australia's leading not-for-profit organisation funding world-class breast cancer research. Since 1994, NBCF has invested over $200m into more than 600 world-class reserach projects across Australia.

NBCF funds breast cancer research to prevent, detect, stop and treat this disease – research that ultimately saves lives.

We are completely community-funded and we rely 100% on amazing people like you to help us reach Zero Deaths from breast cancer.

The $25 million NBCF Collaborative Research Accelerator (CRA) investment isn’t just funding – it’s a catalyst for change. The first CRA Grant was awarded in 2025 to a powerful local and international collaboration led by the Garvan Institute of Medical Research.

Our long-term goal is to reduce breast cancer deaths by half, by tackling one of the most complex and urgent challenges in the field – preventing breast cancer from returning.
