Pink Line Markers 2022 - Roadsigns (Aust.) Pty. Ltd.

Pink Line Markers - Raising Funds and Awareness!

Pink Line Markers - Raising Funds and Awareness!

Itโ€™s our second year at Roadsigns wearing Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

Last year, together with friends, family and professional colleagues, we raised $2,797.00 to help fight the battle against this disease.

This year we are aiming to build on that number and see if we can get this fund up to $6000.00

Roadsigns Aust will kick-start the campaign with $1000.00 and will match all donations dollar for dollar until we meet our $6000.00 overall total!

ย

As many would know, this fundraiser is one that is very close to my heart (Shannon) as I lost my mum in 2001 to a 7 year battle with breast cancer. If she was diagnosed in 2022 instead of 1994, her chances of survival would have been that much greater due to the outcomes of the research carried out by the NBCF โ€“ I might have grown up with a mum and my children would have had a chance to meet and know their Nanna Judy.

ย

From NBCFโ€™s inception in 1994, five-year relative survival for breast cancer improved from 76% to 92%. This improvement is a result of research. Unfortunately, despite improved survival rates, the number of deaths from breast cancer each year is still rising. This is being driven by the increase in diagnoses.

ย

Letโ€™s look at the Statistics:

In 2022 alone, its estimated that over 20,000 Australians will be diagnosed with Breast Cancer

3,200 Australians will pass away from breast cancer this year.

Thatโ€™s 9 Australians per day

Approx 1 Young woman under 40 is expected to die from this disease each week

Approx 30-40 males will pass from breast cancer this year.

ย

ย

My dream is that one day, daughters and sons wonโ€™t have to experience this kind of pain and sadness when saying goodbye to their mothers, and partners wonโ€™t have to lose their soulmates. One day our motherโ€™s will be able to live their lives in full health and happiness and won't be robbed of watching their children grow up and growing old with their partners.

ย

We are donating money and we are inviting you to support this cause โ€“ if this is something you feel like you would like to donate to, please follow the easy steps to do so. You can donate a little or a lot, or nothing at all!

You donโ€™t have to make a donation to show your support, you can easily copy our Fundraiser URL and share it on your social media โ€“ remember Awareness is equally important and you never know who might see the post and decide to help!

ย

The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) is Australiaโ€™s leading national body funding game-changing breast cancer research with money raised entirely by the Australian public.

ย

By improving how breast cancer is diagnosed, managed and treated, NBCF is working towards one goal: zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030. Together we can help them get there.

ย

Click 'Donate' to make a secure online donation and help me reach my goal. Every donation, big or small, will help me get there. Please donate today.

ย

All donations over $2 are tax deductible and you will be issued with a tax-deductible receipt via email as soon as you make your donation.

ย

Thank you so much for your support!

My Updates

Loss over time and a positive future - by Shannon O'Brien (Pink Line Marker)

Sunday 9th Oct
It's been over 20 years since I lost my mum to Breast Cancer.

This glass bird sculpture I'm holding was very precious to her, I remember I used to love looking at it in her bedroom when I was little.
It has lived with me on my window sill every day since she passed, a small memento that everyone in my family knows to treat with the upmost care.

If I dig really deep into my memory, I can still hear her voice and I can still remember the funny things she used to do.ย
I remember how she loved our black and white cat.
I remember she loved to have music playing and how she was always thinking of nice things for us even when she was terribly sick.

But I never got the chance to get to know my mum as Judy O'Brien, the adult that her friends and family knew her as.
I look at the relationships people around me have with their mums as adults and I know I missed out on a lot.
There's so much I could have learned from her and about her that I never got a chance to.
I have stories and photos to share with my kids, but they missed out on knowing & having such a wonderful person in their life as their Nanna.

Nothing we can do can bring her back, but talking about her keeps her spirit with us and keeps her memory living on.

The NBCF have set and are working towards their goal: ZERO Deaths from Breast Cancer by 2030,ย

That means if my situation was rocketed forward by 30 years, my sister Tara & I would still have a mum, my dad would not have lost his wife and my children would grow up with their Nanna Judy baking them apricot slice, reading them stories and playing games with them.

I'll miss you forever mum, I hope our contribution this month will help protect someone else's family from the trauma we suffered.ย

Meet the Team!

Friday 15th Oct
Here are a few of our Team Members!
Sheezy, originally started as a casual employee when he was a Uni, he has now moved into a full time position and is loved by everyone, super hard working, super generous, just an amazing person to have around!
Adzy has been with us for many years, and has risen from Casual Trainee to Team Leader of our Knight Krew. Adam has an exceptional standard of work, runs a Safe, happy and productive team 5 nights a week; He's true asset to our company and a great guy!ย
Both Adzy and Sheezy were super excited to get behind National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and immediately sent me their selfies once they had their new Pink Shirts on!

Love having people like this around me, and what a time to be giving back when everything else is so drab right now!!

We've surpassed our target in a number of days, but if you still wanted to donate please feel free, every dollar gets us closer to ZERO DEATHS BY 2030!!!

Much Love,
Shannon "Shnakey" O'Brien,
Roadsigns (Aust.) Pty. Ltd.

Manly Men Wear Pink

Tuesday 12th Oct
Meet Phil, a real manly bloke from Warragul.ย

Phil was so excited about our Pink Ribbon Shirts he couldn't wait to get home to wear it, he was dressed up in pink within 5 minutes of us opening the box.

Phil can be seen in the attached photo, still dressed up in his Pink shirt at home, as its his day off today. I think he slept in it!
Great job Phil for getting behind our cause and raising awareness for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month!
We love you mate,
