I'm now a Zero Hero
Hi, my name is Shaila and I've decided to cut my hair on Mother's Day on the 10th of May 2020 as a tribute to my Grandma whom my family and I lost 24 years ago due to breast cancer.
Breast cancer is a terrible terrible thing and has snatched the lives of many, affecting countless lives. My Grandma was an Obsertircian and Gynaecologist and had positively impacted the lives of many and this Mother's Day I would like to take forth her legacy by donating 13 inches of my hair for the women who are suffering from breast cancer as well as their families.
I know very well that if the amount of research and technology now was available then, perhaps my Grandma would have still been with us. I never want any family to go through what mine did and for this, I want a world where there are ZERO deaths from breast cancer. To achieve this, I’m raising funds for more research. All donations made to this page will help do exactly that.
The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) is Australia’s leading national body funding game-changing breast cancer research with money raised entirely by the Australian public. I recently purchased the NBCF 2020 Women's Health Diary and I was so inspired by the work they are doing and the profound impact their research is having on countless families.
I really believe research is the best way to prevent deaths, and improve how breast cancer is diagnosed, managed and treated. NBCF is working towards one goal: zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030. Together we can help them get there.
Thank you so much for your support!
(I know at the moment all of us are focused on the dreaded COVID 19 Virus affecting people all over the world. At times of extreme uncertainty and anxiety, I hope and pray we can be kind and supportive and come together as a community for common good!)
