Run For Our Mum

By Jessica, Trisha & Kaitlyn Beere

We are running for our mum

As many know, after 16 long years of battle, our loving and courageous mum passed away from breast cancer in October 2020. She would have been 61 this March.

As her three daughters, we are signing up to be NBCF Zero Heroes. We want a world where there are ZERO deaths from breast cancer. Every death from breast cancer is one too many. To achieve this, we are aiming to raise $3,000 (we smashed our original $1,000 and our increased $1,500 and $2k targets!) for more research by collectively running 150kms during March 2021.

We truly believe research is the best way to prevent deaths, and improve how breast cancer is diagnosed, managed and treated. NBCF is working towards one goal: zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030. Together we can help them get there.

Please click 'Donate' to make a secure online donation and help us reach our goal. Big or small, every dollar will help us get there.

All donations over $2 are tax deductible and you will be issued with a tax-deductible receipt via email as soon as you make your donation.

We are so grateful for everyone's support. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

My Updates

DRUM ROLL PLEASE

Wednesday 31st Mar

The final tallies are in!

Collectively, we three Beere girls have run 166.83km's for the month of March 2021 and raised an astounding $3,347.00 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

To put it in perspective, that amount of km's is just shy of 4 whole marathons!

Our individual achievements are bloody awesome too (if we do say so ourselves), in particular the fact we each were able to reach at least 50km's individually. We are so very proud to make these totals and tonight have an amazing sense of pride among us.

While we are now each laying on our couches, resting our weary limbs and covered in ice packs and deep heat, we would like to say thank you.

To you, the people who donated, who cheered us on, who shared our story, and who supported us in general... thank you. You know who you are. We love you. Words cannot express how grateful we are to each and every one of you.

This wraps up our #runforourmum challenge for 2021... and who knows. We might have recovered in time to be able to do it all over again next year!

Love,

The Beere Girls

Day 8 of 31 : On target

Monday 8th Mar
We are 8 days in and on target to reach our 150kms! Kaitlyn has an impressive 10kms+ under her belt with @beerenuts and @trishabeere not too far behind.

We've had some pretty sore legs, a case of shin splints and general run-downness, however we aren't going to let that stop us (maybe slow us down a bit is all).

On a side note, happy #internationalwomensday! Without a doubt, our mum was the most important woman in our lives and an incredible source of inspiration. We like to think she is cheering us on in our efforts and is proud of how far we have come already.

If anyone has any words of motivation to keep us pumped and on track, please share!

Love,
The Beere Girls

Stay tuned for weekly running tallies.

The Lesson by Lesley Beere

Wednesday 24th Feb
The Lesson by Lesley Beere "Money raised is used to help fund research to find a cure." This is why we have set ourselves the #runforourmum challenge. We want to find a cure. Thank you to each and every one of our supporters so far whether it be through donations, sharing our story or simply sending words of encouragement.

Introducing: Trish

Monday 15th Feb

Hi Guys!

I'm Trisha, Lesley's third child and middle daughter running in March to help raise funds in support of the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Words will never be able to express just how truly, amazing, loving and courageous our beautiful mother was. No matter the challenges she faced throughout her battle Mum stayed positive, happy and selfless.

I'm a strong believer in the @nbcfaus #zeroby2030 - too many lives are affected and taken by this disease which does not discriminate against age or sex and causes nothing but heartache for those around it.

Please, if you are able to contribute any donation towards our challenge goal, we will be forever grateful.

To our amazing donations already received, your generosity means so much.

Love, The Beere Girls

Introducing: Kaitlyn

Friday 12th Feb

Hey there,

My name is Kaitlyn and I am Lesley's youngest daughter running in March to help raise funds for breast cancer research and in loving memory of her.

Lesley was so kind hearted she always put others before herself.

She is the true meaning of inspirational.

With the biggest smile always on her face, at times you wouldn't have even known she was sick.

I am so lucky and forever grateful to have her as my mum.

With your help, we can make a difference to prevent another family being put through what my family did.

If you can spare any change or pass up the option for 1 coffee towards our challenge, we will be forever grateful. The link is in our bio.

Introducing: Jess

Thursday 11th Feb
Hello! My name is Jess and I'm the eldest of Lesley's three daughters running in March to help raise funds for breast cancer research.

Looking back at the countless photos of mum, there are two things that stand out to me.

First, she was always smiling. Like, the biggest, most genuine smile one can have. Even in the photos when she was having treatment. Even when she probably didn't feel like it. Always smiling.

Second, she was always up for a laugh, to be cheeky, silly and mischievous. To let loose! It was one of my favourite qualities she had.

My family and I don't want anyone else to have to go through what our mum did. Research is one of the ways we can help prevent this. If you can spare a couple of $'s towards the challenge my sisters and I have set ourselves, we will be forever grateful. If you can't that's fine too! May we ask you please consider sharing our story?

We' d love for you to stick around and stay tuned for more stories, photos and memories we are going to share over the coming days.

Hello and welcome!

Saturday 6th Feb
Hello!

We are Jessica, Trish and Kaitlyn and our mum Lesley Beere was taken by breast cancer in October 2020.

She was first diagnosed in 2014 after finding a lump in her right breast. Treatment did work on and off over the years until it no longer did.

Mum made her 60th birthday last March and we had such a big party planned for her to celebrate making that milestone. Friends and family were coming from interstate, everything was organised, the works!

And then COVID came and messed it all up. Mum never got to have her big party. She passed away at home, surrounded by her family on 24th October 2020.

This March, mum would have been 61 years old. In her honor, her girls have set a target to collectively run 150kms throughout the month of March 2021 and raise $1,000 to go towards breast cancer research.

If you have a couple of $'s to spare, we would be forever grateful for your donation to our challenge and support.

Thank you for taking the time to read our story. Stay tuned for more updates!
