I’m getting active and climbing the vertical height of Mt Everest (8,848m) to raise money for the NBCF and their amazing goals.

On Sunday 13th of December I'll be running up Sydneys steepest street (Awaba Street) until I have travelled 8,848m in vertical height, in an attempt to raise over $10,000 for the NBCF.

Their plan of 0 deaths from breast cancer by 2030 can become a reality with the help of the Australian community so I hope that you can donate to my page in efforts to help the NBCF.

I have seen and experienced first-hand the destruction that breast cancer can cause so I am really passionate about my goal to donate $10,000 dollars to the NBCF. To do this I need your help, together we can make a difference so donations of any amount will be extremely helpful!

Together we've raised $11,319 for the NBCF. A truly extraordinary amount and one that I'm still extremely grateful for.

When I set the goal of $10,000 I was told many times that we wouldn't reach it, in fact many people doubted that we'd even raise half of that. But here we are at $11,319 absolutely smashing that goal.

As of the start of the 13th December (The start day of my Everesting) we had raised $5,517, an impressive amount. However as I was running (or walking) up and down Awaba St donations trickled in. The extreme generosity of the community more than doubled what we had raised before I started over the 33 hours to when I finished at 5:00am on the 15th December.

Thank you so much to all (roughly) 141 people that have donated and brought us to this point. I am unable to put into words just how thankful I am for your generosity and support. The donations, support messages, tips, tricks and encouragement from everyone involved mean so much and I really am incredibly grateful.

Where Your Money Goes

We've reached over $2,000! Thank you all so much for your donations. I am extremely appreciative of your generosity and contributions towards such an important cause. This is just an update to show the great work that the NBCF is doing and where your money is going.

The NBCF is funding research projects in 4 main themes; prevention and risk, detection, new and improved treatment, and quality of life. 
The NBCF is currently funding 148 projects that have each undergone a rigorous testing process to decide whether they are suitable for an NBCF grant. More information on this process can be found at https://nbcf.org.au/research/the-funding-process/.
This testing process ensures that the best of the best research products are being funded and that your money is going directly to the assistance of breast cancer research.

Although it can sometimes be difficult to understand that your donations directly impact research, allow me to ensure you that they do. Your money is compiled with every donation to the NBCF and is then spread out to different researchers and their projects. Any amount, large or small, funds research and will make a positive difference in the lives of so many Australians.
Having been personally affected by breast cancer, I have seen and experienced the destruction it can cause. But on the flip-side of this, I have seen how impactful the research completed by NBCF funded researchers is. It is easy to imagine that these research projects never leave the laboratory, but let me assure you that the research on prevention and risk, detection, new and improved treatment, and quality of life is being applied, is working, and is making a difference in the lives of so many Australians.

I cannot stress how impactful your donations are. Thank you so much to those of you that have already donated. And for those that have not, please consider donating any amount that you are able so that the NBCF can achieve their goal of zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030.

The Challenge

Hi All,

Thank you so much for your generous donations. Every dollar is a step towards my goal and a leap towards having no deaths from breast cancer by 2030.

In an effort to raise these funds, on the 13/12/2020 I will be running the vertical height of Mt Everest (8,848m) up (and unfortunately back down) Sydneys steepest street (Awaba Street - home of the Balmoral Burn)

I've chosen this challenge as it's symbolic of one of the greatest challenges ever overcome by mankind - reaching the highest point on earth. This theme of challenges continues over to the challenge of breast cancer. The NBCF has taken on the immense challenge of reaching zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030. While it does not compare, I want my challenge to reflect that hard work, dedication and work ethic that the NBCF and their funded-researchers are putting in to ensure that they reach their goal. It is truly inspirational and I wish to bring awareness to the NBCF and their researchers through my challenge so that more people may hear of them, and donate.

Now for some light-hearted details on the challenge:

From bottom to top, Awaba St has an elevation of roughly 60m. In order to reach the height of Mt Everest (8,848m) I will have to run up Awaba St 145 times... and then get back down. This equates to almost 18km of elevation change and almost 100km of distance run. I hope to complete the challenge within 20 hours and will need your support.

It will be great to see many of you come and visit while I'm running, but the biggest and most impactful way you can help me up that street is to donate to this page. Thank you all so much for donating already, and if you haven't yet please donate any amount that you are able.

We've done it! We've reached $1,000! Thank you so much everyone for all of your extremely generous donations. I really appreciate it. With just 4 days of fundraising I am amazed that we've managed to reach such a significant milestone. Every dollar you donate makes a huge difference so once again thank you so much for your contribution.
I am extremely grateful and have at times have been shocked by your generosity. Thanks you so much. You have all made such a positive difference in research towards the prevention, detection, and treatment of breast cancer.

My Motivation

I just thought I’d share a little more about why I started this fundraiser and why it means so much to me. As some of you might know, breast cancer has been a prevalent issue in my life. 

I have experienced first hand the destruction and hurt that breast cancer can bring and I want for no-one else to experience that. While this is unfortunately not a present reality, the NBCF is working hard towards a goal of Zero Deaths from breast cancer by 2030. 

I also wish for there to be no deaths from breast cancer so I have started this fundraising page to help and support the NBCF in every way I can.
